The Alaska Senate voted unanimously to change the penalty for texting from a misdemeanor to a $500 fine. Under current law, anyone caught texting while driving could face a $10,000 fine and up to one year in jail, but the law has been difficult to enforce.
Alaska has the most deaths by firearm and the second most deaths by suicide in the entire country but driving and texting is what they are focused on? Seems like Alaska is catching on to MD's revenue generating scheme. #allaboutdollars
ReplyDeleteI am all for doing this here, no one pays any attention to the texting laws and they need to.
ReplyDeleteI hope they remembered to duck....
ReplyDeleteBut if you get caught and you are the State attorney or another big shot, they bargain down the charges to nothing. Laws here on the shore are for poor folks only.
ReplyDeleteWish the laws were just enforced in Maryland.
