my dishwasher just started leaking two days ago - I have not washed dishes by hand is a long time, but until I can get it fixed, that's exactly what I am going to be doing!
The next question is-Who after handwashing drys everything off w/a towel and puts it away? I don't. Whatever gets handwashed stays in the drainer to dry. My friend who is Amish after the dinner dishes are washed, dried and put away, scrubs the sink out w/Comet. Then sweeps the kitchen floor. Sink scoured and floor swept everyday except Sunday.
I never saw the point of using a dishwasher if you have to rinse stuff off before putting them in so I just hand wash. The next day they are dry and I put away. No problem.
Yep, every single day.

But you keep your Christmas lights on all year!
The pots and pans go to the sink. Glassware and china (not the good stuff, though) go to the dishwasher.
