Because the local meteorologists failed to call this storm properly, Wicomico County was simply not prepared for this storm, that's a fact.
Another problem the County had was the fact that today is a holiday and many employees even took off on Friday to enjoy an extended weekend.
That being said, the plows were not on the majority of county vehicles, (which can take 3 to 4 hours to install with a normal crew) as those vehicles are used for other purposes.
So working with a skeleton crew at this point, the county will be plowing main roads only and not developments. Considering the local forecasters are still claiming this will turn to rain, most everything on the roads should clear up in those developments anyway.
Cable TV out on snow hill road.
ReplyDeleteI bet the city is out giving tickets while there sidewalks ain't cleared huh JAKE DAY ?.FOLLOWING in the Idiot Ireton footsteps.
ReplyDeleteIf the county employees are off for the holiday then so are the city employees. They'll only ticket you for blocking a snow emergency route.
DeleteCable TV's not working on Riverside Drive also.
ReplyDeleteDan did not say it was going to be like this!
ReplyDeleteWell shame on Wicomico County for relying on local stations for the weather, they should know better.
ReplyDeleteAgree 100%. While I concur that the WBOC weather staff are the biggest morons in the business, knowing that and relying on them for critical weather information is on the County.
DeleteSomeone needs to help Dan.....help him right out the door to greener pastures!!!!
ReplyDeleteThen what we would have to bitch about on snowy days? I say keep Dan, it makes for good complaining! :)
DeleteLee Outten does a good job overseeing the roads dept during emergencies. He is right out in the trenches with his employees during snow events. Other county departments need to have him train them how to oversee and supervise people correctly.
ReplyDelete10:56, It was Brian screwing up this morning and the other kid last night. Heck, we had almost 4 inches in Ocean City while Brian kept saying 2 to 4 inches is all they expected. Yet last night they said Ocean City would not see ANYTHING at all. So since we have now surpassed 4 inches, how much did everyone else get???
ReplyDeleteAlmost 6 inches North Salisbury
Delete5" in Vienna so far and still coming down.
DeleteA little shy of 7" of Princess Anne.
DeleteCable out on the west side as well.
ReplyDeleteHa! Brian's luckily to keep that big bobblehead of his upright, let alone figure out what's going on.
ReplyDeleteHeck, it's still snowing here outside of Willards!
ReplyDeleteGround hog hunt... when the snow melts. Who's coming? Dan?
ReplyDeleteRight! That's why we shouldn't depend on a rodent to tell us about the weather!
DeleteI was in town most of the morning. Never saw a plow or seen where one had been!
ReplyDeleteAnyone seen a plow in the City of Salisbury? Guess this is another "learning experience" for the new Mayor. Now it's packed down, will get a layer of sleet on it, and freeze into a nice sheet of packed ice tonight. But those sidewalks better be cleared!
ReplyDelete5.5 " in Hebron at 3:30 - roads uncleared
ReplyDeleteWhich roads, Town of Hebrons or the States?
DeleteCity unprepared. City holiday today. They can't be concerned about their jobs of clearing the streets. Jake, where are you?
