Wicomico County Has Been Out With Salt Trucks Since 3 AM Today

Because the local meteorologists failed to call this storm properly, Wicomico County was simply not prepared for this storm, that's a fact.

Another problem the County had was the fact that today is a holiday and many employees even took off on Friday to enjoy an extended weekend.

That being said, the plows were not on the majority of county vehicles, (which can take 3 to 4 hours to install with a normal crew) as those vehicles are used for other purposes.

So working with a skeleton crew at this point, the county will be plowing main roads only and not developments. Considering the local forecasters are still claiming this will turn to rain, most everything on the roads should clear up in those developments anyway.

    1. If the county employees are off for the holiday then so are the city employees. They'll only ticket you for blocking a snow emergency route.

  5. Well shame on Wicomico County for relying on local stations for the weather, they should know better.

    1. Agree 100%. While I concur that the WBOC weather staff are the biggest morons in the business, knowing that and relying on them for critical weather information is on the County.

  7. Lee Outten does a good job overseeing the roads dept during emergencies. He is right out in the trenches with his employees during snow events. Other county departments need to have him train them how to oversee and supervise people correctly.

  8. 10:56, It was Brian screwing up this morning and the other kid last night. Heck, we had almost 4 inches in Ocean City while Brian kept saying 2 to 4 inches is all they expected. Yet last night they said Ocean City would not see ANYTHING at all. So since we have now surpassed 4 inches, how much did everyone else get???

    1. Right! That's why we shouldn't depend on a rodent to tell us about the weather!

  14. Anyone seen a plow in the City of Salisbury? Guess this is another "learning experience" for the new Mayor. Now it's packed down, will get a layer of sleet on it, and freeze into a nice sheet of packed ice tonight. But those sidewalks better be cleared!
