Yeah, I have to admit trying something like this once. Not quite this dramatic, though the skateboard was one of the 'early prototypes', made with a board and one of those steel skates you strap on your foot.
2 things were cemented into my mind:
1) skateboards don't have brakes
2) beyond a certain speed, you become 'committed' to finish the ride.
I'd like to give it a shot right now.
