Rehoboth Beach, DE - The Delaware State Police are investigating a two car crash that involved the Chief of Police for Rehoboth Beach Police Department.
The incident occurred around 6:50 a.m. Saturday February 13, 2016 as Keith Banks, 47, (Chief of Rehoboth Beach PD) was operating a 2013 Ford Taurus (owned by the City of Rehoboth Beach) southbound on Coastal Highway (SR1) approaching Miller Road. Sumer M. Clevenger, 36 of Georgetown, was operating a 2012 Jeep Patriot northbound on SR1 with the intentions of turning left onto Miller Road to continue westbound. The Jeep came to a stop at the intersection and then proceeded into the southbound lanes where it was struck on the passenger's side by the Ford. Both vehicles came to an uncontrolled stop on the southwest side of the roadway. The intersection is controlled by a traffic signal for all directions.
No injuries were reported by either operator at the time of the collision and both were properly restrained.
There is an active and on-going investigation into this incident and no charges have been filed.
The Delaware State Police is requesting any witnesses to the collision to contact Cpl. A. Mitchell at 302-703-3322. Raise the standards for cops and leave race out.
ReplyDeleteDrunk cops? was he checked? What are the results? How about a drug test? Wal mart would require it. Let's see his results?
ReplyDeleteClearly the cop was not at fault. The jeep obviously failed to yield on the left turn.
ReplyDeleteIt seems the Jeep's driver is at fault. It made a turn and was hit by an oncoming car driven by the cop.
ReplyDeleteWrong. jeep had a green light!
DeleteYep, 926 and 945, that's their story and they are sticking to it!
ReplyDeleteI was in an accident recently and ticketed by State Police when the other driver was clearly at fault and was never ticketed.
There are two sets of laws, as Imclain has constantly explained, yet you fail to understand.
Please gather all the facts before responding.
It says there is a traffic signal for all directions. Maybe the Jeep had a green arrow and the officer had a red light. The report is a bit vague which leads me to believe the officer was at fault.
ReplyDeleteLook up the intersection on google map. If you are turning left there are 2 left turn lanes that have their own traffic light. Someone ran a red light.
9:26 & 9:45
ReplyDeleteJust because you are t-boned doesn't mean you are at fault.
When you drive all day every day accidents will happen. not the end of the world.
ReplyDeleteNot involving a police officer, but the Chief of Police.
ReplyDeleteTrooper ran the light I had just gone through from the eastbound side heading south and heard the hit. Would have been me getting hit by him if it was 10 seconds sooner. Crazy.
