When Houston resident Paul Aker woke up Thursday morning, he was surprised to notice a “suspicious truck” parked outside of his house.
A few hours later, when Aker was greeted by 7 armed U.S. Marshals at his door, he was even more surprised to learn that they were placing him under arrest, all for a $1,500 federal student loan he had taken out in 1987.
As Aker would soon learn, he’s far from being the last to have this experience, thanks to a surprising policy the government is now employing.

But illegals and welfare queens continue to steal from us daily. Keep cheering
ReplyDeleteNo one has enough vision to recognize the silver lining in this matter,so I won't spoil it.
ReplyDeleteif i have a federal dept of some kind,, irs, past medical bills and bank loans what do think would happen if i refused to pay the students borrowed the money,so give them an ultimatum to pay it back or community service use their so-called college education and be part of the unpaid workforce
ReplyDeletethe student loan debacle is like some welfare fraud go back living with your parents and claim you can't find a job make the student loan program like maine's new welfare program
ReplyDeleteAhhh....I see......the "silver lining" of seven well armed (and ready to kill) FEDERAL agents taking you to "debtors prison" for a 25 year old debt.
ReplyDeleteAl Sharpton owes the government millions and go to the White House for dinner.
"We, the people" get taken at gunpoint for $1500.
Please explain to the rest of us how the silver lining works, again????
Try to reference what the Founding fathers had to say about being JAILED for debt........
Yet, Sharpton owes $6,000,000 and walks free. In fact, he's been invited to the WHite House almost 100 times.
ReplyDeleteWell I said no one would recognize it.Some things need to play themselves out for people to see the eventual benefit of it all.In app 9 months the Constitution will once again find it's way to DC.
ReplyDelete2:15....It's hell being the only smart person on the planet, huh?
ReplyDeleteOF COURSE, others can see the benefits of making people pay their bills.
I have enough of my own. I don't need theirs, too, but I think there are other ways to make them pay besides sending 7 armed killers to get the student loan scofflaw. What if "moved quickly"? he would have been killed for $1500.
Further, when someone loans someone else money, be it your friend or the government, there is something called "risk". SOME people never pay. Is you superior and far-reaching "vision" good enough to see THAT?
What's next in your far reaching and brilliant "vision"? Sending SWAT teams to collect past due hospital bills (because the rest of us have to pay more to cover it?)?
I guess you have lived such an exemplary and honest life, with never any problems or trouble, but sending armed men to collect bills is a dangerous and un-American idea. And a VERY bad precedent, no matter how much you'd like the gestapo to help out.
Maybe the Mafia would fit your plan better.
242 pay your bills or get a job. It's obvious you want WE the tax payers to do it for you.
ReplyDelete6:04-Typing hairbrained comments is his job,or at least he is under that impression.
ReplyDeleteSharpton gets away with it because he brings some fine ripple to the king and queenie
