Shore reps: Bridge won't wait
ANNAPOLIS — Eastern Shore lawmakers in their weekly delegation meeting on on Friday, Feb. 12, pushed for funding the next study included in steps toward a new Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
The comments, which were made during a review with engineers involved in a recently released study of the current William Preston Lane Jr. Memorial Bridge spans, accompanied a concern by Lower Shore Sen. Jim Mathias that the future will be here before they know it, while traffic continues to get worse on the quickest route onto and off the Shore from the rest of Maryland.
Eastern Shore lawmakers on Friday reviewed a cost analysis study on the Bay Bridge, which overviewed traffic growth projections and cost estimates for a new bridge span and to maintain the current spans.
The study found that while traffic growth on the bridge has been flat for the past decade, it is projected to rise 1.3 percent from 2017 through 2040.

we dont need a new bridge
ReplyDeletewe need to close the ones already there
They need the new bridge for all of us leaving the area due to high unemployment and the stink of chicken crap!
ReplyDelete10:38 The chicken crap has been here longer than you... don't let the door hit you. Go to Baltimore.
ReplyDeleteWe really do not need another bridge. It is only backed up for a matter of hours out of the year. This is just the unions pushing for it and lawmakers who are the union's slaves and do whatever the unions tell them to do.
ReplyDeleteIf a new bridge was built the toll booths should be on the Eastern Shore and we keep the toll money not the Western Shore or Lawmakers.
ReplyDeleteDid you see Jim Mathias on the news? He looked like George Washington with that long white hair.
ReplyDelete12:11pm
ReplyDeleteMathias will NEVER be a George Washington., Benedict Arnold maybe.
we don't need another bridge. sure it may, for a short period of time each year, make the traffic go through the bridges faster, but then what happens once the traffic is on the eastern side...automatic bottle neck. this goes both ways.
ReplyDeleteby the way, for those who don't like the 'aromas' of the Eastern Shore or Delmarva, please leave. it's actually gotten much better than back in the day. the chicken houses and the fields have this 'aroma' and it's gold to those of us who have lived here forever...so just go back to where you came from...
Post the date for destruction of the bridges...let everyone who hates the Eastern Shore LEAVE and it will eliminate the "crap" out of Baltimore and DC coming here to pollute our water!!! ALL PROBLEMS SOLVED!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe need more bridges to bring in new people, we need a bigger Gene pool I getting tired of dating my cousins.

ReplyDeleteHow did Liberal Jim vote on the voting felons override?
And there you have it folks. Look at the comments and there is the answer to why the economy sucks on the shore. Hatefully people with little to no education or life experiences beyond either set of bridges.
