Jimmy Carter: I'd Take Trump Over Cruz

Former President Jimmy Carter said Wednesday he would take Donald Trump over Ted Cruz to occupy the White House were he forced to choose.

Appearing at Britain's House of Lords Wednesday afternoon, the 39th president surprisingly said he would take Trump over Cruz because of his ability to strike a deal and because many of his positions are not set in stone — as Cruz's are comparably.

"I think I would choose Trump, which may surprise some of you," Carter said when asked who he'd prefer for the GOP nomination.

"The reason is, Trump has proven already he's completely malleable," Carter explained. "I don't think he has any fixed [positions] he'd go the White House and fight for.

  7. Say what you want about Carter, he is a very Christian man who lives a Christian life. Not like the charlatan Cruz.

  9. Cruz has zero back bone. He has accomplished close to nothing in the political world. Every bill he supported were easy and with the flow. He will be pushed around and owned from day one... He is a Jr. Senator for a reason people...

  10. First of all, before you knock Carter, think to yourself, could you as a novice do a better job as president?

Yes, he was a horrible president but as a man, very accomplished. A nuclear physicist, career Naval officer that went on to become POTUS and the first to broker some peace in the Middle East with the Camp David Accords - regarding the West Bank and Gaza strip. He brought two lifelong adversaries together (Began and Sadat) and got Egypt and Israel to come to some peaceful agreement (which Obama destroyed later of course!) He won a Nobel Peace Prize when they still meant something!

Getting to Cruz, he cheated during the Iowa caucus. To some folks, that still means something.

  13. Seems like a lot of backbone to me for Cruz to stand firm against ethanol subsidies in Iowa. Also shows effective leadership to do so and win.
