A Message From Delegate Carl Anderton

Bill hearings have started. HB599 is the Poultry Litter Management Act and will be heard today. We have a great turnout of farmers who are opposing the bill.

  1. Mr. Anderton,
Why is it ok for the taxpayers to clean up the poultry companies pollution? That is simply welfare.

  3. People on welfare pay taxes 6:07. Directly and indirectly. They pay sales tax, gas tax if they are renters they are contributing to the landlord's property taxes. To claim people on welfare don't pay taxes isn't accurate or logical if you actually stop to think about it. And NO I am not on welfare, never have been and never will be.

    1. Everyone pays the taxes you mention. But only working people pay income tax. Welfare recipients don't pay income tax. They suck off of people who do.

  4. 10:00 Only about 55% of the population pays income tax. They also pay less property tax because of the agricultural designation don't they?

  5. Passing this act is the only thing that makes sense. The growers have the option of using the manure and if they can't then it would go to the companies. It seems the mouthpieces for the growers are creating confusion over what the definition of "use" is. Use is use. It means having a purpose so they can sell it if they want or use it themselves. Give it away even I don't know. But use is use and it's clear what it means unless you are grasping at straws.
Everyone gets all excited over the measly stuff like lowering tolls and fees by a pittance but when it comes to saving tax payers big dollars by reigning in corporate welfare everyone acts all offended.

  6. Well they have no problem holding their hands out taking tax payers money for this and that but when asked to take more responsibility to save the public's money they don't want to.
