The United Methodist Church has banished five Israeli banks from a list of financial institutions it will no longer do business with citing human rights violations.
The church's pension board said it will no longer invest with Bank Leumi, Bank Hapoalim, First International Bank of Israel, Israel Discount Bank or Bank Mizrahi-Tefahot, The New York Times reports.
Israeli banks lend money for settlement construction "in what most of the world considers illegally-occupied Palestinian territories," The Times said.
The newspaper reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel described the divestments as a campaign to destroy Israel.

Not good.
ReplyDeleteThe UMC has become a blasphemist social/political club. The type of lukewarm church that Jesus said makes him sick; literally, spew out of His mouth.
ReplyDeleteTheater.
ReplyDeleteHow much money does this dying denomination have invested with these banks?
This is all about making a grandiose political statement and nothing else.
If they were actually a spiritual bunch, they'd know how God looks at people who mess with Israel..
Natanyahu is spewing hatred. He knows the ALMIGHTY will NOT let anyone and I mean anyone destroy Israel. The only time he spew out in this manner is when someone other than himself is trying to steal his money. Natanyahu greed is more important than The ALMIGHTY.
