Dover, DE - Delaware State Police continue to urge drivers to stay off of the roads as much as possible during the winter storm. Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) crews continue working to clear the roads and we ask commuters to not hamper these plowing efforts and only travel if absolutely necessary. Since approximately 8:00 p.m. last night, Friday, January 22, 2016, Delaware State Police have responded to 78 property damage accidents, 7 personal injury accidents, and 149 disabled vehicles statewide.
Troopers urge all motorists who must travel to use extreme caution as weather conditions may change rapidly. Motorists should be prepared for strong winds and extreme cold weather which can make driving conditions difficult.
If you must travel, allow ample time to reach your destination. You should also keep extra space between you and any vehicles in front of you, and keep your headlights on which will assist in making your vehicle more visible to other motorist who may be on the road.
Troopers statewide remain available to patrol, assist disabled vehicles, and manage roadway incidents and hazards for the duration of the storm.
