Ted Cruz: Donald Trump ‘Was Publicly Supporting Amnesty’

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas says that GOP presidential rival Donald Trump “was publicly supporting amnesty” during the 2013 debate over illegal immigration.

“Look, I understand that Marco Rubio and Donald Trump are trying very, very hard to blur the lines here,” Mr. Cruztold ABC News.

“Marco Rubio stood with Chuck Schumer and Barack Obama and advocated for citizenship and amnesty for 12 million people here illegally,” he said. “I stood with Jeff Sessions and Steve King and led the opposition that defeated amnesty, and I would note at that time, right in the middle of the fight, Donald Trump was publicly supporting amnesty.”

In recent days, Mr. Cruz has highlighted a Twitter post from Mr. Trump in August 2013 that read: “Congress must protect our borders first. Amnesty should be done only if the border is secure and illegal immigration has stopped.”

In the interview, Mr. Cruz also touched on Mr. Trump’s social media habits.

  1. So what? They just dont get it. Im supporting Donald Trump because both parties are irredeemably corrupt. I dont care really what his positions are- this country has been dead- the rule of law is dead, faith is dead, morals are dead, for a long time now. Donald Trump is a giant middle finger to the media, the parties, all those stupid people who think they can vote their way out of this mess.....

  2. 8:48 Do you honestly believe Trump is different? Seriously, think about his past, his positions in politics... he may have you fooled, but hopefully people wake up before making another mistake.

If we are not going to "vote our way out of this mess", how do you propose that we do so in a representative democracy?

    Two choices: Voting or revolution.

(Voting for Trump is STILL voting.)
