Stacey Dash Fires Back: ‘BET Lies to Black People’

Fox News contributor Stacey Dash created quite the controversy this week when she suggested that black entertainers who support self-segregation–à la BET and Black History Month–are hypocrites for trashing the lack of black Oscar nominees.

In response, BET took cheap shots at the 49-year-old actress and suggested she return the check the network paid her for a recurring role on a now-defunct show.

It wasn’t long before Dash hit back.

“Thank you for reminding me, since most people have never heard of that show,” Dash wrote Thursday.

Dash’s op-ed entitled, “How BET Lies to Black People,” argues that “Oscars are awarded to the actors and actresses who excel.”

“What’s next?” Dash asks, “Giving a blue ribbon to the kid who stayed home from field day? Giving a Nobel Peace Prize to a President who escalated wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?”

“My problem goes back to the notion that every area of life needs to break down exactly according to demographic ratios except in those areas in which black people have decided they want to have their own space,” she said about BET’s double standard.

  1. Good for her. Fair is fair, and justice is about what's fair and right. She's risking her career by speaking out, and it's funny that allllll those black hypocrites (and their sycophants) close ranks and turn on her for not simply parroting the "black grievance of the day".

  2. The more I hear from her the more I like her.

  3. Blacks get offended if someone tells them the truth. Honesty is not something that is valued by the majority in the black communities. This and this only is the root of each and every single one of their social problems. This is why their races' youth are killing each other like no other race, committing crimes like no other race, living in poverty like no other race, dropping out of school like no other race, having illegitimate babies like no other race. When you don't have the pillar of honesty as a foundation, a civil society collapses.

  4. Back in the 2012 presidential election, when Dash endorsed Romney, the black community was up in arms. The threats of violence and name-calling on her Twitter account was horrific. She took a lot of flax for her support of Republicans. She's a brave woman.

While most of you know her as Dionne from Clueless, clueless, she is not. She has a real healthy attitude that should be embraced by all ethnic groups not just black people. She doesn't look for a 'free' ride and is highly uncomfortable with any Affirmative Action measures because, like she states all the time, she would rather be recognized for her talent not her skin color.

She has endured quite a lot from her so-called fellow citizens and it is refreshing to see she is not letting them dictate her views and opinions. She is a true American regardless of her party affiliation.

If more in the black community used her instead of the whiners as their 'hero' then they would find their journey in this life would be a lot easier and happier.

  5. BET is a white owned network that glorifies drugs and violence to impressionable black youth. They aren't the only ones. Sony does it too, and while they show off how they feature black "artist" they mainly show the ones who push that message. How do you "celebrate diversity" when every single black "artist" they show is waiving guns and stacks of cash and putting $10k rims on a $800 car? And you know its fake when the executives are cracking racists jokes about the President in their emails the whole time. I have plenty of reasons to hate him that have nothing to do with the color of his skin.
That being said the comments above disgust me. You all are just as guilty because you are buying the stereotypes sold to you by the media system. You need to wake up and realise that a handful of WASPs won't "take our country back" without the help of the black community, the latino community and other minority groups. I assure you there are just as many if not more white trash criminal welfare junkies than any other race that you blame for America's problems. Keep being elitists and keep blaming powerless people for the decisions of the powerful and you will find yourself watching Hillary Clinton being sworn in next year.
