By dumping the debate, Donald Trump has now shown he is very Punk Rock. He just flipped Fox and the pseudo-conservative Establishment the bird much like the NYD front page had the Statue of Liberty flip Cruz the bird for his remarks.
He's playing a three-dimensional chess game, while Fox is wallowing in tic-tac-toe or checkers at best.
What he did is brilliant because on their shows tonight, nothing else is being covered or talked about but who? Trump! They are all whining and saying he's a brat, a baby, afraid. Absolutely genius. They're talking about Trump instead of pontificating their own stances.
Love it. Trump - I never would have thunk it but you're very Punk Rock. This is going to be an election of a lifetime.
By the way, when Reagan walked out on Gorbachev during the Reykjavik (Reagan-Gorbachev) Summit, no one thought Reagan was a baby, brat or spoiled. That's the day he became infamous, galvanizing his place into global history. "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down that wall..." Of course, to Gorbachev personally he told him, "Call when you're serious..." before he abruptly left the room. A real leader knows when to retreat. Very Sun Tzu and also very Punk Rock!
Good move, screw the MSM, maybe their stanglehold on political discourse is finally over.
ReplyDeleteLove it.
ReplyDeleteBut you do realize that everyone is being played by Trump and Fox. Both of them love the attention and ratings this is generating.
Competing cable networks, who have been chasing Fox News in the standings for the past decade, are now devoting large blocks of time in their news shows to what Trump & Fox "are" or "aren't" doing.
Trump will write another book in about 10 years and reminisce about the time he and Roger Ailes at Fox put this "deal" together.....where Trump would pretend he was offended by a Fox News Anchor, then demand she be removed from a debate, then Fox would refuse Trump's request, and then Trump would skip the Fox debate....resulting in huge press coverage & ratings for Trump and Fox.
It's a brilliant move by Trump and Roger Ailes.
He'll be a great leader for our country.
10:08 maybe, I don't care what any of the MSM is doing or not doing, I only like the fact that somebody kicked their butt, whether overtly or covertly.
ReplyDelete10:08AM, this thought has crossed my mind. Trump is the master at manipulation and posses extraordinary prowess when it comes to his art of the deal; however, I do believe he is generally outraged by the MSM's biased spin on everything to do with elections.
ReplyDeleteIt used to be that journalism was a highly respectable field. Journalistic integrity was the mainstay of most journalism classes. However, now, there are not enough Walter Cronkites and more Maury Povichs in the field. Hence, the profession has been cheapened and rallies reality TV more than actual journalism based on careful evidence research and true reflection upon what the research actually demonstrates. The profession, now being taught by some of the 1968 generation of free love and societal revolt, portends a radicalized liberal leaning even in places like Fox - a channel that promotes itself as Fair and Balance.
I am all for the First Amendment, but journalists have lost the idea that what they provide Americans is a service TO the citizenry. It was not initially designed to be some propaganda to forward one agenda over another. Call me a suffer of true believerism but the art of journalism is now just an industry of cool, no better than Hollywood's TMZ, which is specifically designed for rating grabs.
I have found in the last couple of days since the big showdown, even people who are not for Trump, support his provocative move because it is a big smack against the MSM propaganda machine.
Let's face it, there's more baiting than debating during these so-called debates. It has been a series of slamfests that only go to vilify and demonize each of the candidates, pointing out their weaknesses more than their strengths.
Can you imagine? What if FDR was debating today? Would the New Deal legislature even be spoken of or would they obsess over Lucy Mercer and Eleanor's homosexual relationship? What about JFK? Would he be derailed about Marilyn Monroe instead of his disastrous Cuban Missile Crisis? Just something to think about...
Pseudo-conservative Establishment exactly! We need to take over the GOP and kick the RINO's to the curb.
ReplyDelete2:39PM, agreed. It is really time. They've bamboozled the American public for far too long. Like Trump, it's time for us to take a stand! Just remember to do it with you mind not your brawn.
