Parents are NOT happy with BOE

Rusty Perdue So you took it upon yourself to NOT tell the parents, NOT tell the students, NOT evacuate, NOT have a lockdown and NOT telling anyone until a 2:35pm robocall?!?! So who made that decision? You? Pinhey? Fredricksen? YOU do not make the decisions about what and where is safe for our kids, WE as parents do!!!

Kimmie Peters So Parkside has a Bomb threat parents informed at 2:30.I have spoken to 4 parents who have spoken to their miss including mine that had no clue anything was going on nor did they evacuate. Really no Evacuation so it's little scary that if there had been one these children weren't evacuated.

Publishers Notes: This is what the Board of Ed put on their Website. Please, do tell me where it warns Parents there's been a Bomb Threat!

  2. Try your child runs out the classroom and the teachers can not find him and when they do find him they suspend him and do not call me until 3:55pm Not one word was said when I walked in the school to pick him up. I guess notifying me was not very important????? Notified the BOE on Friday stilk have yet to speak to the head of the elementary schools.

  3. Stop living in fear. You are playing into the hands of the terrorists. My children will go to school each day and not be bullied.

    1. But if they're not afraid then they'd have nothing to talk about on "spaceyface" and "mybook"

  5. Can't tell nobody. It's an active investigation. Don't want to tip anything off. Gotta keep the possible perp on site or in area. This is the same response received about the sheriffs failing to inform the public about a shoot out in Sharptown. Makes no sense does it?
Only other possible answer is that this was a mock drill planned well in advance and therefore was perfectly under control with no need to evecuate or inform of any danger since there was none. If so this is disgusting in so many ways. Not to mention if not stopped now will become as normal as a fire drill and just more conformed kids of another completely clueless generation will be the end result. Look at you! Baaaa when bothered but never stray the flock. Your rights and freedoms are being taken for what? A false sense of safety. Stop this now in its tracks or be prepared for more and more of the government and less and less of you!

  8. CS, "common sense", time. All involved from Principal to Fredericksen should be fired immediately. They should not be allowed to retire. No one should get any benefits. They are responsible for each and every child in the building or on school grounds at the time. This is blatantly irresponsible and dereliction of their responsibilities of the safety of these children. Now we will see the leadership of this County, by their response and penalties. This is no laughing matter and should be acted upon immediately.

    1. The decisions are being made by central office. The hands of all Principals are tied. They MUST ask permission for any and all actions. Discipline is out of control as a result and the issue today was just one more example of central office calling all shots. Parents need to speak out and rally for their schools and Common sense.

  10. "Child Abuse", "Child Endangerment". Child taken from Parent, Parent goes to jail. Firng with no benefits and no retirement is to good they should be charged the same as a Parent would be for less along with the firing ect.

  11. I went to Lewes middle school and cape henopen high school during the 90s and we had quite a few threats. Guess what, nobody told the parents, schoolsvwete evacuated to other schools via buses and everyone was fine, people didn't whine and cry about it. The entitlement and coddling of parents and kids nowadays us just crazy.

  12. 6:36, Technology is a thousand percent different today and quite frankly your comment simply tells me YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN SCHOOL.

  13. Technology also allows LEO to determine if a threat is credible or not rather quickly too. Every parent thinks they know more than every teacher and administrator but very few are qualified to even work in the school system as an aide.

  14. My issue is with the school not being evacuated. They could have put into place the procedures that are used when there is a fire drill/fire until the school was cleared by WCSO. The kids did not need to know why they were out there. The weather was not prohibitive. There is NO reasonable justification for those children and staff to be IN THE BUILDING while it was being cleared. I guarantee if it was any other building in this town, there WOULD have been an evacuation of the staff. (GOB, MVA, even WalMart gets evacuated!) In this age of kids shooting up schools and terrorism, I, for one, would rather have my kid miss a class or two and come home safe. BOE screwed up!

    1. Man. It ranges from baby mama drama to a dope dealer being robbed. Only thing that's truly known is Jan 2 a shoot out with car chase happened between some folks. One being a local. They claim one is in custody. It is on the sheriffs web site as shots fired and a follow up next day. Arguments on an AR -15 or a M-16 was used. Was compared to a few seconds or life in Iraq. All I know it can gather. Posts about this are on joes page from yesterday, the weeks most discussed.

Why weren't the students evacuated from the school if safety was a concern? Why wasn't the parents notified immediately of a bomb threat instead of waiting until school ended? I should have had the option of taking my kids out of school instead of you keeping my kids in a potentially hazardous situation. This was done by design. Someone needs to have their head on the chopping block for this one and yes I mean you Ms. "Unqualified Principal" Pinhey! Step down before we force you to step down.

  17. Try being divorced and finding out from an automated phone call at 6 PM that "your child missed school today."

So in this situation my crazy ex may have ran off with my child and I don't know anything about it.

What if the crazy ex drops your child of a 7 AM and you don't find out that your child missed school today at 6 PM via automated phone call. Come to find out your child was kidnapped by an unregistered sex offender and you have no idea where to they could go. In 11 hours they can be as far a way as Indiana and you will never see your child again. You get the phone call 11 hours later that your child missed school that day? What's the purpose of a phone call that late!!! This is the most poorly ran school system in the nation thanks to our lame Democrat controlled Board!!

I don't care what kind of duck John Fredericksen is. He still has the responsibility to make sure my children are safe while attending his school system that he owns while he is in charge.

Your kidding right. Well on the flip side every teacher and administrator think they know better than someones parent. FYI- you all are humans and are mostly incompetent of doing anything else but teach kids useless information. NO ONE at the school has the right to decide if my kid should take a chance and hopefully it's just a hoax. Suppose it wasn't.

  20. I also have to wonder, did the teachers know that this was going on. In the same position, if I was told there was a threat like that...I'm out. I don't care what cop, boss or whoever tells not too. I'm not staying somewhere that someone has threatened to blow up. What kind of sheepish whack job stays somewhere that a threat has been made? Better safe than sorry.

My kids have been instructed to ALWAYS follow their gut. If a threat like that has been made, get out and we will deal with what comes.

  21. Late but here is what I feel in a nut shell , The BOE is like our now government. Government for the government and by the government. Should be government for the people and by the people.

  22. parents can be as unhappy as they want. and that's it. they won't do anything to correct anything so who cares about how they feel. just more bitching with no solutions.

  23. You voted the political committee into office. They sent recommendations to the governor for appointed Bd of Educ, members. Then the Bd. members select the big Superintendent. OK?
