McDonald’s Apologizes For Giving People Fried Air Instead Of Mozzarella Sticks

Facing the righteous indignation of customers demanding mozzarella sticks that actually contain cheese, McDonald’s is doing a dairy apology dance, saying that cheese must have somehow escaped its breaded casing.

Though it can’t go back in time and rescue each customer’s mouth from meeting a cheeseless fate, McDonald’s offered a mea culpa on Thursday.

“We are aware of a low volume of guest concerns about our Mozzarella Cheese Sticks,” a spokeswoman said in an emailed statement to the Chicago Tribune. As it turns out, cooking is tricky.

  1. Mozzarella sticks are frozen then deep fried, which requires a precise temperature to prevent the cheese from "blowing out" prematurely. That's why they are tricky to make at home, but it can be done.

  2. The mcdonalds mozzarella sticks are frozen and then baked for 5 minutes in our oven. If there's more than a dime sized amount of melted mozzarella on the tray after they're cooked, we have to waste them.

  3. I buy them frozen and heat them in the oven. Not once have I ever had a hollowed out mozzarella stick! It isn't rocket science to heat up a mozzarella stick! Maybe if they didn't use inferior ingredients, they would not have happened.
