It’s official: Federal employees are getting a pay raise next year.
President Barack Obama on Friday signed an Executive Order authorizing a 1.3 percent pay raise. It comes after the passage of the $1.1 trillion spending bill.
The omnibus bill continues the pay freeze for the Vice President and senior political appointees.
The raise goes into effect Jan. 1. OPM released a memo outlining the salary tables.
The President sent a letter to congressional leaders in August authorizing across-the-board and locality pay adjustments.
“Specifically, I have determined that for 2016, across-the-board pay increases will be 1.0 percent,” he wrote. “Also, I will make a decision by November 30, 2015, regarding an alternative plan for locality payments under 5 U.S.C. 5304a. The alternative plan for locality payments will be limited so that the total combined cost of the 1.0 percent across-the-board base pay increase and the varying locality pay increases will be 1.3 percent of basic payroll, consistent with the assumption in my 2016 Budget. These decisions will not materially affect our ability to attract and retain a well-qualified Federal workforce.”

Of course Social Security recipients don't get one because the co9st of gasoline went down; not groceries, health care, insurance, taxes, or other essentials, just gasoline.
ReplyDeleteA 1% raise for being inept and poor performance. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many "work from home" Federal workers these days, they simply don't have enough money to fund their available shopping time. More shoppers means a growing economy so why do people oppose these raises?
ReplyDelete5:06 - What?
ReplyDelete5:06 then why does the ones on SSI get a raise?
ReplyDelete5:06 - What?
ReplyDeleteFor starters, we have more Federal Agencies adopting "telework" that include DISA at Fort Meade. There's a movement to reduce the remaining 2 days a week workers who actually come to the office to accomplish something. You slobs who actually work a full day/week are paying for this with your taxes. Take a day trip to somewhere in Northern VA (Woodbridge?) during the day and witness the number of people "shopping" but not "working". Most live on "direct deposit".
This is not obvious living on DELMARVA I know but people like Mathias knows what's going on and the liars like Hillary knows where the money is going even when their diaper needs changing. Hillary continues to be no new surprises.
1.3% is not even close to the true increase in give cost of living. Just because gas has dropped temporarily, doesn't mean anything else has.
ReplyDeletePrices go up because the cost of fuel adds expense to every level of production and transport. But they rarely if ever decrease to previous prices, if fuel drops in price.
Wow. A whopping 1.3%. Glad I work in the private sector where I recd a huge 3% raise. Don't feel so bad now.
