Byrd Stadium is renamed after Board of Regents approves Loh's recommendation

The University System of Maryland Board of Regents voted Friday in favor of renaming the University of Maryland's Byrd Stadium, backing university President Wallace Loh's proposal to change the name earlier this week .

Following the 12-5 vote, the football stadium will be known as “Maryland Stadium,” which takes effect immediately, according to the announcement.

Loh created the Byrd Stadium Naming Work Group in September, in response to petitions from students requesting that the "Byrd" name be replaced because the school's former president, whom it honors, supported racial segregation. The students, alumni, faculty and staff who composed the group provided Loh with “a thoughtful and balanced assessment of possible options,” the announcement said, in the form of two reports.

    You support UM every time you pay a sales tax, buy a lottery ticket or pay state taxes on April 15th, unless you are one of the the people that get tax credits for x amount of children. BTW, I know many " hardcore republicans" that get child tax credits but will condemn those with an EBT card.

    AW... Some misguided Democrat got his panties in a twist. Child tax credits are the law you moron and there is no comparison to an EBT Card. If it makes you feel better when you use your EBT card then go for it. HeHe! You must be getting that free Comcast internet and trolling on Joe's Blog... LMFAO
