Since a few of you still get the Daily Times, today they published a lengthy article about Culver's "DAUGHTER" getting a $13.00 an hour job with the County.
It turns out, (the DT's claims) a private citizen filed an ethics complaint over the "DAUGHTER" being hired.
The Ethics Board found absolutely NO wrong doing whatsoever.
Here's what was conveniently left out of the article. Council President John Cannon and the majority of the County Council were the ones who encouraged this investigation with the exception of Joe Holloway.
For far too many years I have heard far too many locals state that once their children graduate from school they are forced to move elsewhere because there are no decent paying jobs here on the Shore. Mr. Cannon, do YOU believe $13,00 an hour is a decent paying job AND would YOU encourage your children to remain in Wicomico County for such mentioned pay???
Yet YOU feel it was important to have Mr. Culver and his "DAUGHTER" investigated for wrong doing.
Mr. Cannon, you are simply making every possible attempt right out of the gate to not only make Mr. Culver's life more difficult, YOU are CAMPAIGNING to become the next County Executive.
In your political career you have been labeled a RINO as you have always played both sides of the fence. Whatever helps you get votes, that's how you will side.
Americans are growing extremely tired of your kind of politics and that clearly shows with the extremely low numbers O'Malley is experiencing in the Presidential Race. You're two of a kind.
As for my "DAUGHTER" quotes above, not once did the DT's ever state Bob's "DAUGHTER"s name in their verbose article on this matter.
This young Lady went through an extensive interview process, excluding ANYTHING to do with County Executive Culver. Clearly she was more QUALIFIED then ANY other applicant and she got the job. Yeah, for $13.00 an hour. If only a Father could be so proud of his own County!
While RINO's and Liberals like John Cannon picket for a $15.00 an hour minimum wage, SHAME on ALL of you Liberals for wasting everyone's time over $13.00 an hour!
Welcome to the BURY'. If I was his "DAUGHTER" I'd sue the County.
Good Luck "Courtney" Culver.
The Ethics Board has spoken. No foul.
ReplyDeleteAnybody can file an ethics complaint, but they do look like absolute fools when the complaint is found to be completely baseless.
Right or wrong, that 's the way the system works as we know it today. It happens in politics everyday, and we know they are all politically correct.
Delete11:32-
ReplyDeleteCannon's council won't blink.
Cannon = POS backstabbing slumlord.
ReplyDeleteYep and i see him driving around in his weasel bmw he is a real sneak.
DeleteJoe really? This may be legal but it is not right.
ReplyDeleteagain just another proof that the county pays low wages--most governments do the benefits is what keeps the personnel there--hell just look at mr culvers pay to do his job in the private sector it would be at least double if not three times what he makes
ReplyDeleteThat's all Cannon is 12:02 and why anyone in their right mind would vote for him is way way beyond me.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the job?
ReplyDeleteHow many family members work in the same department in the city and county? I guess that's okay!
ReplyDeleteJohn Cannon is green with envy of Bob Culver's position. So desperate that he will lie as he did for The Daily Times article and was quoted as saying Rick Pollitts son never worked for the county. Not only did Ricky Pollitt work for the county, both Pollitt and his sister-in-law signed county checks. Cannon, do what you were elected to do and leave the executives duties to Culver. You can run the next time around and lose just like you did 4 years ago. LOL
ReplyDeleteNo law suit here...any business, county included has to be careful that no family members of executives receive preferential treatment over other employees or perspective employees. Sorry but it is the due diligence process...
ReplyDeleteCannon never had to work for a living. His daddy bought properties at tax sales and built an empire. Johnny Boy just fell into the Slum Lord position.
ReplyDeleteNo discrimination here and I wouldn't have a problem with this, except that there is an ongoing commitment by some to discredit Bob Culver every step of the way. It has gone way above the "due diligence process" 12:55 and is bordering on, if not already, harassment.
ReplyDeleteThe other problem as I see it, is that the complainant is only referred to as a citizen in the paperwork. Why? When the Republic committee filed against Creamer and Brooks they were specifically named as the complainant, so the public needs to know who made the complaint this time as well. If the DT's had real journalists on board instead of amateurs they would be asking this question and demanding an answer.
Whoever it is makes a broad allegation without offering any example of what the supposed wrongdoing was i.e. "Executive Culver has used the prestige of his office to circumvent the County hiring processes and ignore rules that specifically address nepotism in the County Employee Handbook ............"
The Ethic Committee should have taken this complaint and thrown it right in the trash. Unless there is an example of specific rule/rules ignored then and only then is a hearing even justified.
YES,YES,YES,AND YES.
ReplyDeleteWe need to know who the complainant besides Creamer through Cannon and council, was.
ReplyDelete3:04, IF there was ANY journalistic quality AND the Daily Times followed PROTOCOL they would've never published that article WITHOUT exposing who that person was. They are YELLOW JOURNALISM experts and LIE to the public on a regular basis. The ALSO would have CONFIRMED what Cannon said was accurate. They ONLY correct things ON LINE, (for starters) when they are caught in a LIE and rarely ever do so in PRINT the next day. They do this because the gray hairs are the few left buying the paper and unfortunately it is the gray hairs that also VOTE. They don't correct their LIES in print so as the gray hairs continue to believe what they read in print is absolutely true.
ReplyDeleteThis proves ONE MORE TIME the DT is in tank for Cannon, Creamer and the old ways. They don't want to see progress made in this county because it will rock their worlds too much.
ReplyDeleteBassett is almost as bad...tries to play both sides, but clearly a BIG FAN of Cannon and company.
People wonder why so many people are supporting "outsiders" in national politics? Wicomico County is a prime example of what inside politics has done - destroyed this county. We need to get rid of the status quo insiders like Creamer, Cannon, Hall, Strausburg.
Good job Culver in trying to get some new blood in county government. Sorry that you don't have the support of the Republican council, but they will pay a price for their lack of loyalty when they run again.
Hilarious that Cannon cites Pollitt's example. Really? Pollitt's high school now college age son worked for more per hour part time in Rec and Parks than what Culver's daughter was hired for. Where is the outrage over that?
ReplyDeleteIt's okay if the good ole boy Dems and RINOs do it, but not okay for Culver's daughter to apply like a regular citizen for a county job?
SICK OF THIS DOUBLE STANDARD AND THE CABAL TRYING TO TAKE CULVER DOWN!
BOB CULVER IS DOING A GREAT JOB AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! (I meant all caps because I'm proud of the job Bob is doing). Cannon, M. Halloway, Kilmer, Hall green really isn't your color, but all of you would look great in stripes.

No it is NOT due diligence. It is a fishing expedition. Even if the council were so careful that they were in it for "due diligence" requesting an ethics commission review seems to be an abuse of power on their part. The commission reviews specific instances of suspected ethical violations they don't go and look for one.
Family members can work in the same government as long as the relationship is disclosed and they do not report directly to the family member.
ReplyDeleteAs for Cannon, not impressed. There's a gal in P&Z married to a high ranking SFD guy. No one cries foul there. Nor should they. The hiring rules were followed and no conflict there. Same with Culver and daughter, no conflict.
Bob Culver you have our support. Bob Cannon you need to leave the council now because your slip is showing. Shame on you for your tactics. Do you think the citizens of Wicomico County can't see through your deceptive ways...

Um, let me decipher this for you DUMMY. The gal in P&Z works for the County and the "high ranking" SFD guy works for he City. Do you have enough brain cells to comprehend this?
