Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, about 7 billion hot dogs will be consumed in the U.S., and on the Fourth of July more than150 million hot dogs will be consumed alone. That’s a lot of hotdogs…and now, reseach that has been done is giving us some not so appetizing information about what was found inside the hotdogs…PREPARE to be mortified!
Clear Foods, which “uses genomic technology to analyze the world’s foods at a molecular level, ingredient by ingredient,” released a report recently that it said was designed to look at the accuracy of the content labels of several major hot dog brands.A new report, however, adds extra meaning to the phrase “you don’t want to know how the sausage gets made.”
The company analyzed 345 hot dog and sausage products from 75 brands and 10 retailers, and said they found “human DNA in 2% of the samples, and in 2/3rds of the vegetarian samples.”
Additionally, 10 percent of all vegetarian products appeared to contain meat.

Not to alarm anyone,but #1-DNA is diluted when mixed with multiple ingredients making it almost impossible to isolate a specific DNA pattern,and #2-One would be amazed at how similar human DNA is to the DNA of other animals.Personally I think this study is flawed.

ReplyDelete2:43, actually you are 100% wrong. It's quite easy and routine now to be able to detect single species level dna fragments from complex mixtures. But this is just another bogus media scare fest story. Just like bug parts I'm sure there is fair amount of human hair contaminating a large industrial size vat.
