The Daily Times Editorial Board put out another hit piece this afternoon against County Executive Bob Culver and I have to say, it's whacked out.
It strongly suggests Culver is crooked and even threatens him in the next election. While I rarely ever give a link back to the Daily Times, I think it's best you all see how vindictive these people actually are. This isn't journalism, it's a hit piece.
Let me say this as well. Do you people remember when they put out the protocol article of which stated the rules that their journalists follow? Well, read this editorial and tell me if they told the truth. The link is below.
I read this earlier and posted a comment on your earlier post about Cannon. The Daily Times needs to print a retraction and an apology to Culver, Ennis and Lewis; and the citizens of Wicomico County.
ReplyDeleteTheir reporting is habitually wrong more than it is right. They are so biased as to make reading anything they print questionable. They truly are a "rag".
The new editor/publisher wants to be part of the community and set a new tone. Well, how he handles this should determine exactly what they are made of. They need to address Pollitt's actions with hiring his son (if it is wrong for Culver, it was wrong AND UNCHALLENGED for Pollitt) and the fact that Cannon lied about two things - Pollitt's never hiring his kids and stating he didn't know anything about an ethics complaint when the Council filed one.
Blindly following the opinions of the Council President who is foaming at the mouth to get Culver's job, does NOT make for quality reporting.
For a "main stream" newspaper to be this biased with no research and facts to substantiate their stories and editorials makes them an un-welcomed partner in our community.
Please explain how your First Amendment rights were curtailed by a non-governmental entity. Yes, please enlighten us. Know that I have taken a screenshot of this comment in case you decide to reject it or remove it.
ReplyDeleteBeyond disgusting. Culver, Ennis and Lewis need to see if they have a legal remedy especially against the Council and Cannon. Abuse of power?
ReplyDeleteGood job Daily Times. You base your reporting on what comes out of John Cannon's mouth? Your numbered days will tick off even faster if he is your source. How pathetic are you?!
ReplyDelete7:11, Or should I say EBT Blogger? Nevertheless, show me where my comment VIOLATES any of the rules the Daily Times requires on comments.
ReplyDeleteIt's no wonder YOU are such a failure at Blogging, you don't even understand the First Amendment. People pay money to read the Daily Times. Therefore they must follow their own rules. They have a protocol they have published in which they commit to following.
I have simply stated this is Yellow Journalism, I captured the image and I have every right to challenge them for LYING to the paying public by not following their own rules.
It cracks me up that you'd claim you captured a screen shot of your comment, as if that is supposed to scare me. Maybe next time you'll grow a set of balls and use your real name, or are you too scared.
Lol good one joe.
DeleteThis is a ridiculous issue created by people out to get Culver. A disgruntled employee, a councilman wanting Culver's job and a newspaper that has a liberal bias.
ReplyDeleteApparently, the county hired Pollitt's teenage son to work part time at a higher per hour wage than Culver's daughter. Never heard a word about it being unethical or having a bad "perception" when Pollitt did it. Oh, that's right - he was a liberal. They can do whatever they want.
The ethics commission found nothing wrong with the hiring of Cuvler's daughter, because it was a politically motivated accusation not based on one grain of truth. Anyone should have a right to apply for a county job and try to get it based on their merits - experience and interview.
Could it possibly be she was the best qualified for the job or had the best interview? Give this girl a break and stop creating issues over insignificant crap like this. We have bigger problems to deal with.
Cannon - just stop your personal vendetta.
Yeah for real 7:11. Who cares if you sceenshot your comment. What were you going to do with it if it weren't approved? No other place gets anywhere near the hits as Sby News.
ReplyDeleteThe DT's is Circling the Drain journalism. They are grasping at straws trying anything to make themselves relevant again but only manage to step in more $hit each time they think they have a 'gotcha' moment.
DT = Dungeons / Trash.
Deletelibel....slander....defamation...
ReplyDeletethink there may be grounds for some of the evildoers involved....
7:26 I agree. This is a manufactured issue.
ReplyDeleteShame on all those involved especially Cannon who told bare faced lies and to the Daily Times for not questioning him or his motivation.
Shocking! More bad reporting by the Daily Times. Did you really think they could get a story right?
ReplyDeleteJoe, they are jealous of you. Not going to let your name show up on their website. LOL!
ReplyDeleteThis editorial reads like it was written by Susan Parker. She is a real left winger. Wonder how she feels about the "perception" of Rick Pollitt hiring Ricky jr. to work for 15 bucks a hour for part-time work? He probably was still in high school or first year of college?
ReplyDeleteMy guess is she would have written an editorial in DEFENSE of Pollitt if he had been accused like Culver.
...and they call themselves journalists?? ROFLMAO
7:30 - they are getting their "gotcha" moments from the likes of Creamer, Cannon and Hall. Need I say more? Well maybe this...bye, bye Daily Times.
ReplyDeleteDisgusting journalism. I won't waste my time on them one more time.
ReplyDeleteWho the hell cares, I'm glad his daughter got the job, at least she wants to work and is not living off the system.....There's a lot more to worry about..
ReplyDeleteLet's see how concerned the DT's is with perception and appearances now. Let's see if they are big enough to file an ethics complaint against those on the council who voted to file the original complaint. Whereas before it wasn't even an issue the Ethics Commission should even have concerned themselves with, it now is. It seems as if Cannon et al. have taken part in prohibited conduct because they intentionally have used the prestige of the office for gain. The gain being to make themselves look like some kind of heroes because they thought they could discredit Bob Culver.
ReplyDeleteOkay DT's time to show your opinion really means something and you stand by it.
Whoever wrote this hit piece has an IQ somewhere in the imbecile range. The idiot thinks because the commission met to discuss the issue 7 times we should all be concerned. If this so called journalist had a brain they would realize it was because the commission was sent on a fishing expedition and not offered any specific allegations of misconduct. It's no wonder whoever wrote it is stuck working for such a loser of a 'newspaper.' They couldn't pay me enough to work there. They are such amateurs who shouldn't even be writing about something it is obvious they know nothing about.
ReplyDeleteI don't know who this bimbo Parker is but if she's a liberal then what she does best is lie just like the rest of the liberals. And just like all liberal females, a slave to a man always doing a man's dirty work. A man says jump and a liberal female always obeying to a man jumps without question. If she had a brain she would be embarrassed. If she had a brain she wouldn't be working for such a loser publication as the DT's. A decent person wouldn't work there for any amount of money.
The Daily Times editorial board is a self-serving, liberal biased joke. Just look at their reporting on renewable energy. Time and time again, they support this pie-in-the-sky garbage that will destroy the local environment, lower our property values, increase our electric bills and raise our taxes.
ReplyDeleteThe Daily Times is slime, period. A character assassination rag at best. That is my opinion, which also includes that Gannett should pull the plug on that community-destructive paper.

WTF did the Council do Moron?
Dumbest immature remark of the year: John Cannon remarking about Pollitt's kids not being hired at the county under Rick's watch. They were still in high school. The article was an obvious smeer piece.
ReplyDeleteAnd today's article and pics of the SPD saving a drowning man. How convenient that all were there, including a Times photographer, to stage an obvious promotional video. That's what it appears to be, anyway.
"WTF did the Council do Moron?

It is my understanding that they all except Joe Holloway voted to file a complaint with the ethics commission.
But.....it wasn't really a complaint because a complaint is a legal document that sets out the FACTS and LEGAL REASONS that the filing party (council sans J Holloway)believes is sufficient to support a claim.
It appears as though they sent the commission on hunt to look for something amiss and that can be construed as an ethics violation on their part.
They are the ones who used the 'prestige' of their office for personal gain. *** FYI a REAL ethics violation*** That gain being making themselves look good and Bob Culver look bad.
Now if you do not understand this 4:06 then there is no hope for you and get YOUR IQ checked because YOU are the one who has an IQ somewhere in the moron range.
9:25 - BRAVO! The one who calls the rest of morons is the REAL moron! Great post on your part. Council is out of control under Cannon. The others need to be MEN and not SHEEP.
ReplyDeleteIf the Daily Times had real journalists on board they would have asked Cannon and the other council members what provision of the Wic Co Code of Ethics (Code of Ethics and NOT an employee handbook as the Commission deals with the Code) they believed were violated.
ReplyDeleteCannon himself is quoted as saying he didn't know of any. Since he didn't know of any, discussion on the topic at any council meetings should have been cut off right then and there by him.
You have to be honest though. Bob Cannon shouldn't have hired his family member.

The bottom line is that we the tax payers didn't elect Bob Culver to employ his family members, especially his daughter after his business failed. If you don't believe this then you are the one that has his IQ somewhere in the moron ranger. Get a life moron because I am sure if Rick Pollitt was investigated like this you wouldn't have come to his defense.

I agree. Something is fishy because they didn't call the SFD Far Bote and Barbara Duncan jumped in the water. They must have needed some candidates to have their own medals day like the Far Deparmint.
10:18, The Human Resources Department hired his Daughter, for starters. Bob had nothing to do with her employment. She earned the position.
ReplyDeleteHis Daughter was hired for $13.00 an hour while Pollitt's Son was hired PART TIME for $15.00 an hour. This argument is DONE.
You are one of those robots that follows and believes ANYTHING the Daily Times publishes. They printed a LIE.
No the bottom line is the council is mostly made up of morons.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the county website- "The Wicomico County Ethics Commission is responsible for administering the County's Ethics Law."
"ADMINISTERING THE COUNTY'S ETHIC LAW" The county's.... ETHICS LAW-Period End of Story.
Someone on that council needs to show the public exactly what provision of THAT law and THAT law alone Bob Culver or the 2 staff members supposedly violated. Maybe I'm overlooking it but I see nothing that relates to the hiring of relatives, nepotism whatever.
It's Chapter 37 of the Wicomico County Code.
Who cares about Pollitt or his son. That's yesterday. Today the problem is public officials using the power of their office to go on a witch hunt against another public official.
And hey they were the ones who thought they would be clever and started this nonsense with their bogus complaint. Be careful what you wish for.
No 10:18 "the bottom line" happens to be that you asked "WTF did the council do" and it was explained to you. Now I totally understand that it wasn't the answer you hoped or wanted to hear but it's the answer nonetheless. Sucks when that happens doesn't it? And you have no other recourse or defense so then you attack the messenger. We know your type.
ReplyDelete10:50 a.m. Thank you for your posts. You are on point, while the person who keeps posting back to you clearly doesn't care about FACTS.
