"Probably 30% of operators are insolvent," says franchisee
McDonald’s franchisees believe the brand is in a “deep depression” and could be facing its “final days,” according to a new survey.
“We are in the throes of a deep depression, and nothing is changing,” one franchisee wrote in response to the survey by Nomura analyst Mark Kalinowski. “Probably 30% of operators are insolvent.”
Another wrote, “The CEO is sowing the seeds of our demise. We are a quick-serve fast-food restaurant, not a fast casual like Five Guys or Chipotle. The system may be facing its final days.”
More than a dozen franchisees expressed frustration with McDonald’s management, saying CEO Steve Easterbrook’s turnaround plan — which includes initiatives like all-day breakfast and a shift to digital ordering kiosks — is a distraction from McDonald’s core issues, like food quality and customer service.

fast food is poison...all of it.
ReplyDeleteits not meant for human consumption...
The biggest problem with Mcdonalds is that they got to expensive.
ReplyDeleteIf I wanted a fast cheap lunch I could go there and spend a couple of bucks and be good to go. Now its easy to spend close to $10 on one of their "Value" meals.
Mcdonalds food is not good nor is it healthy. Its only redeeming quality was that it was fast and cheap. Take that away and you have no reason to eat there.
People have finally realized life is short eat quality food.
ReplyDelete1:03 Amen to that!
ReplyDeleteThey need to get a better grade of beef, go back to a very basic menu and get rid of the microwaves.
ReplyDeleteIt is not the recession, it is the crap food. Supply and demand.
ReplyDeleteCan't tell the breakfast all day is hurting them. They're slammed all day now!
ReplyDeleteHardee's does well! It is not a fast food issue. It is a good taste and quality issue.
ReplyDeletewhat they need to do is go back to what they used to do which was served great grease food with awesome fries and milkshakes. tell the pc police to go stick it if you want to eat it, go ahead and eat it, then tell the $15 per hour minimum wage folks go work some place else. were here to hire the pimple faced kids to cook burgers so go find a real job and stop taking the jobs from the kids.
ReplyDeletethen they will make a lot of money.
quality food and customer service? at McDonald's?
ReplyDeletewho do they think they are kidding
They blew it by hiring employees that have an IQ of about 35.
ReplyDeletethey need to go back to just being a good burger joint. They have the best fries in the business, just scrap their current menu items and be a burger/fries/shake business. if they made delicious burgers fast with great service (like chickfila) they would be great again. I agree with 2:40 get better beef and take microwaves out of all stores. they have the infrastructure and buying power to make good burgers cheap, but instead they have tiny patties which lack flavor.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I travel my car every day to multiple states. More often than not McDonalds is my lunch choice. Some of my observations and I hope McDonalds corporate is reading.
ReplyDeleteMost of your restaurants are filthy...clean them up inside and around the property!
Many, Many of you service people are rude and uncaring. I'm not just referring to the cashiers either, you managers are rude too.
Your cooks like to make the drive through special for people like me. Load that burger up with ketchup on one side so when you bite into it, the ketchup spills all over the driver.
I was in a McDonalds last week that was playing Mexican language music. I protested about the music and was told that McDonalds is a multi cultural establishment. For the record, you can cater to the illegal alien population all you want. I will never set foot in that McDonalds again. This is the USA, play English language music!
Oh and last, did I mention that your restaurants are filthy?
Its the worst fast food there is,chicfila is best
ReplyDeleteThe quality of the food has gone down in recent years. I know because I used to work for them as manager back in Seventies and Eighties. The food for the most part, was top rate. The meat was all beef patties, the fish filet was cod fish from Icelantic foods. Breakfast was for the most part all done from scratch. They didn't cut corners and you worked your butt off for the little money they paid you.
ReplyDeleteI didn't mind because I was proud to be a part of the McDonald's team. Eventually I went on to college and landed a better job with better pay and hours. I still worked there part time in the evenings to supplement my income as a single man living alone.
Now they precook the patties, and microwave the food. The taste and quality just isn't the same. The meat doesn't have the same taste anymore. The coffee is still good though. The last few times I have been there, the service and wait time was horrible. You now have to get a ticket and wait until you number is called. To me it is now a restaurant version of Walmart!
Chic-filet the best...
ReplyDeleteI have gone as far as sending emails to McDonald's off their website and all you get is an unpersonalized response....just like the bad service, go back to good hamburgers and salted fries, thick milk shakes, fast out the window service....everyone is right Chick-fil-a is kicking butt in Salisbury, may be a little more pricey but great food!!!
ReplyDeleteyou people are all fat...betcha.
ReplyDeleteHell yeah they are!!!!
DeleteWhen mcd fired the grimace they went downhill and MCD is not cheaper than chic til a
ReplyDeleteLast week I went to the McDonalds in Pocomoke, the bill was $4.55. All I had was a dollar bill and 2 two dollar bills. The cashier told me they didn't accept two dollar bills . I asked to speak to the manager. When she appeared she said they were counterfeit because they hadn't printed two dollar bills in years and threatened to call the police. I asked for her name, it was Courtney Harris.

Pack your own breakfast lunch and dinner if your working doubles. Problem solved and live longer.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing green on the menu. Green veggies complete a burger and fries meal. Give me that with my lunch, and I'll buy, as long as the burgers are still "real" beef, fresh cooked.
ReplyDeleteNo 12% solution for me...
i see the one by the college is gone. Pretty much shows why they are doomed. No one with any intelligence will eat at McDonalds.
ReplyDeleteFood st McDonald's is ALWAYS,ALWAYS COLD. How can it be cold when all they do is nuke the food. Wendy has the best food around. Taco bell breakfast is pretty good too. Better than cold egg Mc muffin and hash brown.
ReplyDeleteMcDonald's is expensive!! (Honestly fast food is general every chain) we are a family of 4 us and our two kids 12&15(boy lol.) We can eat at places like chili's, Applebee's, and Ruby Tuesday's for about the same price. And it a big quality difference.
ReplyDeleteI say they're doing just fine. Those who want it to fail won't succeed. They just want an "out".
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you all eat that nasty crap. I have to jobs and been bringing my own food for 17 years. Save money retire Early.
ReplyDeleteMcDonalds has their uniforms made by prisoners in slave labor factories, their pay is garbage and benefits non-existant, they have so much volume they need a two lane drive through and none of their food is actually real but cheap filler ingredients... how can they not be making money.
ReplyDeleter the burgers really kangaroo meat, that would explain me having to bounce on over to the mens room after having 1
ReplyDeleteAll day breakfast and natural butter...food porn...They ain't going anywhere.
ReplyDeleteThey are too expensive but the reason people aren't going there as mush is because the food is not healthy. I go buy Pittsville Dinette all the time and see les and less people there. I stopped going there months ago when I started realizing the importance of eating healthy. Most people who go there are old and are dying off. Heart disease, cancer.........who needs it. It sensibly and live longer.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet none of the executives, board members or upper management are "insolvent".
