Who could live on that salary?
ReplyDeleteNot a very good pay scale either.
ReplyDeleteStraight white males need not apply.
ReplyDeleteAt 35 hours a week that means $15.00 to $20.00 per hour plus benefits I don't think that is so bad.
ReplyDeleteThat is horrible for the job being done. Long hours, lots of stress, dealing with the pompous fools. $15-$20 is not enough at all.
ReplyDeleteAll the comments here about how pitiful this salary is are being made by the same people that would crucify a board of education employee making the same money for being overpaid . Make up your mind people.
ReplyDeleteJust dealing with Ireton alone, I would want at least $100/hour.

I do! I have a family of 3 that I support on that salary without any help from the STATE!!!!!! It can be done!
12;11 I call BS on that comment. It is absurd to think anyone over the age of 18 can live on 28K and is not living in a shack.
ReplyDeleteWho held this position before?
ReplyDeleteHe just doesn't like women!
ReplyDeleteAbout $40K in benefits. But you can't eat benefits.
ReplyDeleteit is adminstrative associate (aka-assistant) - it is NOT a college degree job. Associates Degrees is preferred, not required. HS education only. for 16$/hour. go find that job anywhere else for more than 10 bucks. I am not city employee or city taxpayer.
ReplyDeleteIt's an entry level job paying entry level wages. We all started somewhere. If you're young, don't have kids to feed, and monster debt it isn't a bad starting wage.
ReplyDeleteTo break it down:
ReplyDelete$15.39 - $16.66/hour
Administrative Assistants are not entry-level workers. The ability to deal with their supervisors, answer phones, take care of visitors, and still be able to complete all the paperwork required is not entry level. The work that administrative assistants do used to be middle-management jobs.
ReplyDeleteSome assistants actually do the work for the administrator so the administrator can attend meetings or other out-of-the office functions.
No one will be hired without 5-10 years experience.
Well let them try to strike for a higher wage and you all will be complaining about that too. Can't have it both ways. People live off way less than this a year...
ReplyDeleteIf you want a bigger laugh in job duties compared to salary go the wicomico countys website and read the parks facility worker 3 job desciption.
ReplyDeletePay for this job should be at a minimum of 55K + benefits.
ReplyDeleteToo many duties for the pay offered. And consider who you would be working for...no thank you.
