RPT: DEA Agents Kept Jobs After Serious Misconduct, Including Handing Out Drugs

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration has allowed its employees to stay on the job despite internal investigations that found they committed serious misconduct, according to newly disclosed records.

The records show that since 2010, agents have escaped with warnings or suspensions after falsifying records, misusing government vehicles while drunk, lying to authorities, associating with criminals, failing drug tests and even distributing drugs.

Of the 50 employees the DEA's Board of Professional Conduct recommended be fired following misconduct investigations, only 13 were actually terminated, the records show.
