Open Container In Berlin

While visiting Berlin last weekend I noticed these signs placed around town to let people know they can't carry alcohol beyond certain points.

This is something I suggested for the Downtown Plaza in the evening on weekends. While we do publish all of the police press releases, never once have we published someone being ticketed or arrested for violating this law in Berlin.

Keep in mind, there are hundreds, (if not thousands) of people in Downtown Berlin on any given weekend, unlike Salisbury. It's just a shame that your representatives in Salisbury are so close to Berlin, yet they rarely ever go out there to see their success.

Hopefully County Executive Culver has the opportunity with a new economic development department to start growing the County with similar marketing ideas.

What don't you understand...? They ARE hanging out in Berlin where it's a happening place and NOT in Salisbury where it is dangerous.

  2. The people who visit Berlin have more class than the thugs and wise @ss kids that hang out in downtown Salisbury.

  3. Totally agree with 8:01. Salisbury will never become a Berlin type town.

    1. Berlin is a nice classy little town. The heroine addicts and the welfare recipients haven't infested it.

Actually, they did. Ten years ago you wouldn't go to any late-night establishment in Berlin. The police, the council, and the citizens of Berlin took serious action to take back the town. Obviously, it succeeded.
      Take notes, Salisbury.

  4. It's too late for Salisbury.

Berlin never let the cockroaches move in downtown. Once they're in and multiplying, they destroy everything and spread filth. And it's all but impossible to get rid of them once they're entrenched, so it gets worse and worse..

  5. Thats what happens when you name your town the "Bury".lolol

  6. 9:14 AM nailed it! I live in Salisbury (not Bury). I would rather drive 20 miles to Berlin for a Saturday outing than go to Third Friday Bury which is only 2 miles. Berlin has class that the downtown can never retrieve.

  9. Last weekend was the fiddlers convention. Those signs permitting drinking in the streets are not up all the time.

  11. Well, yes, 537, but there were additional signs telling visitors that illegal guns are not allowed, nor illegal "activities".

What kind of respect does that show to our visitors?

This is a law at all times, and needs not to be stated, unless you truly believe and assume that all your visitors are carrying concealed illegal guns and are dealing drugs.

Does Berlin welcome their visitors in the same fashion?

    My point exactly.

  12. Look at all the welfare dependants we have here. Most aren't even from Salisbury yet the clueless reps from both parties allow it. How much welfare collecting POS live in Berlin? ? NOT MANY!!
