Documents reveal the ugly truth about Perdue's plans to poison Pa. air: By Ray Wallace

In York County, Pa. the rural township of Hellam now provides easy Internet access to public documents that a major U.S. polluter like Perdue doesn't expect you to read.

The documents reveal Perdue's five-year-long attempts to open an industrial soybean factory that would illegally release large amounts of toxic waste hexane gas into air breathed by families living in Hellam Township and across the Susquehanna Valley.

Dated July 8, 2015, one of the documents is a letter the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection sent Perdue identifying scores of "technical deficiencies" in Perdue's application to pollute. Why would any sensible corporation pick a place as precious and self-protective as Hellam Township and try to further illegally pollute its unfortunately already threatened air?

Thursday air quality alert set
for York County, DEP says

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has set an air quality alert for Thursday for the Susquehanna Valley, including York County, according to the National Weather Service and the state Department of Environmental Protection.

A code orange alert is predicted for Thursday. That means air pollution concentrations within the area could impact sensitive groups including children, people with asthma or with heart or lung diseases and the elderly....
