Poll: Trump is Party Pick, but Loses in General Election

Donald Trump: the guy you love to love or love to hate.

Trump may have surged ahead of the 2016 Republican candidates, but if he ever became the GOP nominee, the nation would vote Democrat.

He earned 20 percent favorability among the Republicans in a new poll—the largest favorability in the party that the Quinnipiac University poll has ever seen. Following behind him are Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker at 13 percent and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush with 10 percent. The rest of the packed Republican race falls at 6 percent or lower.

Yet Trump’s own party put him at the top of the “no way” list. Thirty percent of Republican respondents said they would “definitely not support” him for the Republican nomination. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie follows at 15 percent, then Bush at 14 percent.

The Democrats would pick anyone else over the media mogul in the general election as well. Quinnipiac asked American voters to choose between another Democratic candidate and Trump, and Trump loses every time: Hillary Clinton and Trump (48 – 36 percent), Vice President Joe Biden and Trump (49 – 37 percent), and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and Trump (45 – 37 percent).

  1. I will be voting for him without a doubt if he wins the republican nomination. He tells it like it is. His views are much closer to mine than any candidate I've seen in many years.

  3. Like I'm going to believe that BS. I am voting for Trump as well. Just hot back from the Verizon store. Some black guy who works there was running his mouth about Trump. I told him I was voting for Trump. He asked why. I said because you don't like him. Hahaha

  7. Hillary is going to win, white voters dont make the decisions no more that's how Obama got reelected in 2012. And the reason he won in 2008 was because he was black and would be the 1st black potus and they are going to do the same with Hillary cause she is a woman, those emails dont. mean nothing. We have 13 million+ illegals here that would find there way to secretly vote in 2016 and they will vote for Hillary, so get ready for another democratic president!!! Go Hillary!!#ready for Hillary!

  8. I like and agree with everything he has said, but as a person, I really don't like the man. He is an arrogant, pom-pus ass. He is a corporation and big business guy. Corporations have in recent years have been the downfall for the working men and women of this country. Hillary is just an ass and liberal socialist to boot! It would be a loose loose situation. Would love to see either Rand Paul or Ted Cruz run for president. I still want to hear Trump talk just for the entertainment value!

  13. the rainbow coalition will never allow Trump to be elected he's not a globalist. He is a true American. It's sad, because he'd make a good president that would probably clean house and get this country on the right track. Unfortunately we are under attack and there doesnt seem much we can do about it. so keep Cheering. keep thinking A cookie cutter Republican or Democrat is going to save us it will be business as usual. look at the current situation nothing's changed

  14. Do you think Trump with all the money spent would allow that to happen? ? Duh NO!!! Unlike Romney or McCain or any other ring Trump is not going to let it happen. You vote for any other you'll be kicking yourself because you lost.

  17. Who are these people? Where do they come from? Realize it or not we are being told in advance who will be our next president, and what we the people think does not mean squat. We are being prepared for whatever this mysterious ruling body decides, and the only absolute they are giving us thus far is that it won't be Trump.Millions of us including myself will vote for Trump if he makes it there.
