More tram ads coming after returns of $67K

OCEAN CITY — Whether or not you like them, get ready to see more tram-top advertising panels next season.

Ocean City government’s Transportation Committee voiced support this week to expand the offering for next year to all 16 of the city’s tram coaches, spurred on by the fact that the existing 10 advertised coaches have nearly broken even for the year, and will thus be profit-makers in 2016.

“We started with it as an unfunded item to build the panels, and we have come about $5,000 short of covering the cost in the first year,” city Public Works Director Hal Adkins said.

  2. Like McD's really needs more advertising. City should be promoting local businesses and start-ups to encourage local biz ownership.

    2. Yeh surely.....new jersey doesn't have to buy billboards in other states to advertise their beaches.......no stripper poles on the boardwalk...and far cleaner......ocean city no longer has anything on any resort town .....certainly not the new jersey shore...

  4. Hey 5:09....
Ocean City is less a "town" than it is a "business". Deal with it.
I don't know the figures, but I'm guessing that the Sate taxes that are derived from OC most likely diminish your tax burden in the state.
It's a unique city - one that actually makes money for the rest of Maryland.
Compete - or pack it up and go home.
    It's the American way.

  5. The cabbies just begun selling their rooftops for advertising. Let's see how long it takes before the Town passes and ordinance against this.
