Delmarva Power Announces Conservation Event

  1. Notice that they do not tell you what the baseline is that you have to be below to get a credit.
Basically you have to turn EVERYTHING off and sit in an 85 degree house to get a $1.25 credit.
    Enjoy sweating.

  2. ha ha ha, sit in a 78 degree house with the blinds shut and do not eat because you have to keep your fridge closed.

Just a few years ago it was a 75 degree house now it is 78.

So sit in front of a fan blowing 80 degree air at you and you will feel cooler

Next year they will involuntarily turn off your electric and force an evacuation to a cooling station, where they will force you to put your pets in a cage and feed you PB&J sammiches and warm water.

  3. How are you supposed to know if you deserve a credit when they do not tell you all the facts, slick. Typical of Delmarva Power. I would love to know who actually gets the credit!

I was reading some recent propaganda they sent to me stating that I used too much electricity compared to houses similar to mine. In fine print it states similar houses 14 miles away. WTF? My house is similar to the other 20 houses on my block so why aren't they using them? June cost me $180 and IMO that's cheap.

So when all those DP dweebs and the CEO of DP sit in a 78 degree room from 2-6 tomorrow I will turn my A/C up from 74 to 78 Deal?

  4. How come when I log on to my account it states:

"There have been no Peak Savings Days scheduled in the current bill period"

    Really? Hmmmm

  5. I used 127kWh more this july than last july and they are telling me to cut back?
I don't think so. I can afford the 7 additional dollars.

  6. See what having smart meters does.
They are watching everything you do and soon will be turning you off remotely to "Save the environment" all while the bureaucrats sit in 70 degree offices.
    Tyranny at its best!

  7. Never have agreed with constantly messing with the thermostat. I leave it on the temperature I'm comfortable with and don't mess with it any more. If I put it on 78 degrees it is going to use more energy to get it cooler later on than if I just leave it alone in the first place.

  8. 9:21 You are correct. Programmable thermostats are worthless in residential homes. They are good for commercial properties because of the "demand charge". Set your thermostat at your comfort level and leave it alone.

  9. Called Delmarva Power recently to inquire about my higher bill this past month and I was not even home most of the time/ keep my thermostat on 78-80 and work away from home 8 hours a day so using little electricity. Their response was...Well, if you would had one of their "stupid" smart meters, they could track each day down to the minute what electricity was being used. Pretty scary that they can track everything that is going on in your home - No thank you Smart Meter. Will keep my old meter and keep paying the ridiculous 17.00 extra a month. In talking to those with smart meters in my neighborhood, my bill is one of the lower ones even with the surcharge.

  10. 10:19 yours may be lower because you keep it warmer, but I agree with the huge invasion of privacy our legislators bestowed upon us when approving this insult on to their customers.

The PUC is a worthless agency and in the utilities back pocket, they are not there for your protection.

And I add, what an ignorance statement made by a brainwashed employee rube. How absolutely stupid. I am not sure how having a smart meter is going to tell you why your electric is higher. Maybe because they jacked up your summer rate. Ever try to calculate a bill? I had one of those rubes actually tell me that like our water bills we are charged a flat rate, so lets say you do not use 1000kWh a month. If you use 700kWh a month they will jack up your rate to equal what the 1000kWh costs. So you pay the minimum every month whether you use it or not.

When DP lied on our bills for months saying they were actually read, when they were not, one idiot used the smart meters as a threat when they realized they were caught in their lies. "your neighborhood will soon have smart meters and you will have no recourse when the bill comes"

So none of this was to our benefit. Because our bills were not lowered for this "convenience" to be slapped on the side of my house.

Kudos to you for keeping your old meter, I did not get the refusal note on the side of the house fast enough.

  11. we use more since we have no alternative. others have gas water heaters, stoves, etc. we're all electric. they just need to pay for their expansions, so we'll all pay more...even with a smart meter.

  12. 6:56 you may be prophetic with your last sentence. Happy times are not ahead.

  13. If peak energy demands are a problem in the heat of summer why does the power company have a program to convert farmers irrigation systems to electric? They even pay for it. Don't farmers irrigate more in the hot months of summer? Something ain't adding up.

  14. Delmarva Power's message is pretty much saying "Hey don't use too much electricity so We us it next month and raise the price on you guys in a month and take more of your money". I really have had it with Delmarva Power since they just try and do everything to make electricity cost more for their consumers and purposely increase electrical usage.

  15. I don't know what their deal is but I'm getting tired of resetting the clocks in my house weekly because of a power loss.
