Cal Ripken Jr. reflects on the streak as Orioles prepare celebration
Twenty years after Cal Ripken Jr. played his 2,131st consecutive Major League Baseball game, the retired Oriole is the talk of Baltimore again.
“It’s hard to believe that it’s been 20 years," Ripken said in an interview with the Baltimore Business Journal.
Ripken broke Lou Gehrig's consecutive games played streak on Sept. 6, 1995. His pursuit of the streak was the biggest story in baseball that season, culminating in a raucous celebration at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
As Ripken reflects on what the streak meant to him, the city is ready to party again.
Also Mr. Ripkin or Mr. Full of himself. When they were on the road playing in differant cities made the Orioles get him his own room in a differant hotel then the team was staying. The streak became a ego thing more than a work ethic thing. Their were times during the streak he should have sat down and let someone else play. Ripkin is an arrogant man.
Cal never could hold a candle to the Iron Horse. Helluvalot of fluff for some schlub who batted .276 for his career.

Yeah he was only rookie of the year, 19 time all star, 3,000 hit club member. What a bunch of moronic commenters on here.
