Some Reporters Move Up and Others, Well, They Simply Remain On The Shore For Good Reason
Congrats to former WMDT reporter Terrence Lee and former WBOC reporter Corrina Pysa, now side by side on the morning desk at a TV station in Cleveland. Local talent does move up from here!
Well let me be the first on here I like both Steve Hammond and Paul Butler they are both professional and friendly on air, and that is rare for someone on news to pull off. Do you critical people live under proverbial rocks? I wish them both much success and I wish that to all those that have left and are here.
Steve and Paul have been here so long that you know what you expect every single day - more of the same. So sick of that damn helicopter and Johnny Janosik commercials and those two stupid dudes at Kia. WBOC is just not a professional station, never has been, never will be.
Why not admit that some are driven by career to move to bigger venues and others (Steve and Jimmy) are here as part of the community and prefer to stay to raise their families. Not every person in broadcast news is looking to move up and away...
Just think of the hot market for these two. Morning shows with this and similar racial and gender mix are the rage, and bigger markets want them to reach a wider audience and heftier advertising revenue. So, if you're a small market and you're blessed with a pair like this, a pair whose wholesomeness abounds, look to losing them within a year or two.
Just because certain local TV personalities remained local does not mean they did'nt have other offers. They may live in a local area & like everything about it.Schools are a big factor as well.it's difficult to put a price tag on uprooting one's family & relocating.
11:06 Agreed, and I am REALLY sick of the two doofuses for KIA with the bogus $5000 give away. As for Jim (you know "Jim wants to see ya in a.....) well I want to see Jim in jail for fraud and false advertising.
Paul butler grew up here and his family continues to live here. At one time I believe he did work off the Shore. He also worked at WBOC before leaving to work at UMES before being invited back to WBOC. Not everybody wants to live half way across the country from their extended family. There is no reason to bully these news people because they are more visible than most of us.
All my kids have good jobs and opportunity right here. They have no desire to go elsewhere. Fortunately we like them, they like us and our grandchildren are here. No need for anybody to to go elsewhere.
WBOC should be calling themselves Delaware's News Leader. Largest percentage of their news is in Delaware as if lower 3 Maryland counties do not exist. Guess they have to keep Johnny & his furniture store happy.
Have been wondering what happened to Corrina Pysa, now I know. I've missed her as she is a great reporter but wish her well.
Paul Butler is also a very good reporter and is a fine decent man (he's also a great 'classy' dresser). Paul and Alice are both a pleasure to tune in to and listen to.
Now, as for the meteorologists, can't understand half of what they say, and what I do catch usually turns out to be wrong.
anyone who watches tv is in a losing battle to begin with. it will dumb you down even more than you are. and wboc is so ridiculous only the dumb watch it to begin with.
and the inimitable Jimmy Hoppa and of course any of the weather guys and the sports guys and anyone on the pretty much unwatchable Delmarva Life show.

ReplyDeleteThey speak clearly and pronounce words correctly. They can read and are easy on the eyes. That's why they moved up.

ReplyDeleteMy pet peeve? The anchor says, "On the scene is our intrepid reporter, Tommy Broadcast." And Tommy says, "yea. hey guys."
ReplyDeleteYea?
Hey?
Guys?
And the number one most irritating phrase...
DeleteDrum roll please....
"Out The Door"!!!!

ReplyDeleteThey've had offers I bet. Pay reduction or fired!
DeleteJimmy Hoppa should retire. He is biased and undereducated on topics.
ReplyDeleteJimmy is an asset to WBOC. He's good at what he does. Also a great guy and good Christian man!

Paul Butler worked at umes? That explains it all right there!
DeleteI hope Laccee does not leave. She is so much better than all of them.

9:48, Paul Butler is not a reporter. He is a news anchor who reads from a teleprompter.

ReplyDeleteI stand corrected.
ReplyDeleteThe ones that aren't leaving probably also own a house on DelMarVa...and can't sell it without drowning in red ink!
