Speaking at the U.S. Conference of Mayors, former Maryland Governor and Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley called for tougher gun control reforms and for the Confederate flag to be retired.
"We come together in a sad week in the life of our country, don't we," said O'Malley, a candidate for President. "Another senseless gun massacre in America. "Newtown, Aurora, Washington Naval Yard, and now Charleston. The entire world must think us mad, sending trillions to Afghanistan and Iraq while the casualties pile up here in our own cities and towns".
He talked about recently visiting Mother Emmanuel Church in Charleston and meeting with its pastor, the late Senator Pinckney, other church leaders and community leaders.

he is an idiot.
ReplyDeleteI'm not voting for you. I don't care what you say. Can't you take a hint.
ReplyDeletewhy do idiots always get media coverage?
ReplyDeleteThere is absolutely no question this man is a racist.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand all the outcry about the flag. To me anyone that is offended by an object such as a flag or even the words or writings of someone, suffers from some degree of mental illness.
ReplyDeleteA normal person is only offended by the actions of someone such as this evil shooter in Charleston.
Telling someone it is okay to be offended over a flag is feeding into their insecurities and their mental illness.
Moron! Makes me want to puke.
ReplyDeleteAll the mass murders combined in the last twenty years don't equal to the killings of half a days work of isis!
ReplyDeleteWorthless in Baltimore. Worthless in Maryland. Worthless in the US.
ReplyDeleteThe flag has nothing to do with the murders but it does have to do with respect for the victims. Why should it fly high while all the others are at half mast? It's a slap in the face to the victims. Why don't they deserve the respect that they're due?
ReplyDeleteWhos to say they deserve respect? Just because they were murdered on a church don't mean squat. Their personal lives could've been reflected differently. We don't know the secrets these people kept. One was a politician for Christ's sake. Tell me he wasn't a criminal of some sorts! This has nothing to do with that flag! Was the kid wearing the Confederate flag on him when he did it? No he wasn't. Yes he owned one. Had pics with one. So do black people in the south. This is about hate and racism. The same hate and racism that's held by blacks who have been playing the knock out game. Or polar bear hunting etc. The same people who soaked white kids with gasoline and lit them on fire. If you people think that removing a flag will magically fix racism your stupid. It's always going to exist. Just as Christianity will and even the idea of isis. These are thoughts and ideas. To be honest, I believe the removal of the flag will cause more problems than solutions.
DeleteButthole
First of all 2:07 the victims of the Charleston shooting don't qualify for the flags to be flown at half mast. Please educate yourselves before you speak.
DeleteIs that the same group who just elected Stephanie Rawlings-Blake their leader?
ReplyDeletehe loves to be on the wrong side of all issues and stir the pot. this man has trouble with morals. his "core" values; where are they?
ReplyDeletePerhaps it is time to 'retire' all the current politicians and start over!
ReplyDelete"If you people think that removing a flag will magically fix racism your stupid"
ReplyDeleteExactly. They are beyond stupid 2:46 and only cause to contribute to any problems other than being problem solvers.
It's a joke. People need to stop feigning offense and start getting to the root of the problems instead of picking off leaves here and there hoping something positive happens. Yes finding any innate object offensive does speak to a weakness in a person that isn't an attribute. "Normal" people learn to deal with what they find offensive. You don't let it control you.
It's like the inner city murder problem. These loser liars who haven't the guts nor the honesty to address and say what the real problem is. The problem is the breakdown of the positive family unit and not an innate object such as a gun.
In the case of this shooter, there were plenty of signs that he was troubled. He was blabbing all over the internet. Where in the heck was Homeland Security, the FBI, NSA? His family?
This guy Sucks.
ReplyDeleteI didn't read what he said bc I no it's all bs.
ReplyDeleteKEy facts are:The US has the highest gun ownership rate in the world - an average of 88 per 100 people. That puts it first in the world for gun ownership - and even the number two country, Yemen, has significantly fewer - 54.8 per 100 people. But the US does not have the worst firearm murder rate - that prize belongs to Honduras, El Salvador and Jamaica. In fact, the US is number 28, with a rate of 2.97 per 100,000 people. Puerto Rico tops the world's table for firearms murders as a percentage of all homicides - 94.8%. It's followed by Sierra Leone in Africa and Saint Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean

Isn't a memorial an outdoor museum? So the flag is where it belongs;right where it is.
ReplyDeleteBut what kind of shoe was he wearing? Maybe we should ban those too?
Or perhaps he was wearing some underwear that was too tight that could have sent him over the edge.
We need to find out what music he listened to and ban that as well. And bad haircuts.
This nut talks just to hear the sound of his voice. He doesn't have one original thought in his head, just hears news then rushes to put something together for the press. He is a total loser, an idiot, a liar, and a fraud. He can't be believed!
ReplyDeleteWho is he and why should we listen to his drivel?!
