ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia State police say a patient being rushed to a hospital died Monday afternoon when the ambulance carrying him crashed on the Eastern Shore. The ambulance driver was charged.
Sergeant Michelle Anaya said the two-vehicle crash involved a Bloxom County ambulance and a 2013 Ford Star Transit bus at the intersection of Lankford Highway (Route 13) and Wachapreague Road (Route 180). It happened around 3:45 p.m.
Anaya said the ambulance was transporting a patient with lights and siren activated. It was traveling south on Route 13 and the driver drove through a red light at the Route 180 intersection. Anaya said that’s when the ambulance hit the bus, causing the ambulance to overturn several times.

ambulance drivers still have to follow driving laws.
ReplyDeleteCharge a firefighter but not the cops. Cops kill more this way. It's OK for cops to never stop just roll thru . and of course the county driver didn't hear or see it coming. Or failed to yield for an emergency vehicle. Its cheaper to sue a vol. Fire co then the county. Evo states all emergency vehicles must still come to a compete stop. All! Once stopped and the intersection is cleared its now a failure to yield emergency vehicles. Messed up deal here. I know that no cop had ever been charged for this very same thing.
ReplyDeletewhy do people try to justify their actions based on actions of another? one is responsible for their own actions. act like it.
ReplyDeleteGoing to be a very rich family on the shore after this!
ReplyDelete12:48 you are a moron.
ReplyDeleteWhy is he/ she a moron? He is right. No cop has ever been charged in these circumstances. I've never heard of an ambulance driver killing people here on the shore in accidents. The police have killed many. And the person is correct. Once an emergency vehicle stops at a red light as required by all emergency vehicles, then it becomes failure to yield for an emergency vehicle. I guess your a police officer. Your attitude, name calling and cockiness shows.
DeleteI wonder if the cops will lock up other cops when they get into a accident hope they don't wait for a ambulance when there injured get my drift?.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone see the WBOC report the last couple of nights on this accident? WBOC 's focus was not on the death of a man due to the accident and the loss to family members but rather the fire company is now without a rescue squad for response. This is second time this week they spin a story off a traegedy and talk about the crash effects on community even before funeral of the man killed. WBOC did same thing covering the death of Bidden and the story was not about the loss but who would run for governor now. WTF. Really.
ReplyDeleteWBOC is a total waste. Paul Butler doesn't have sense enough to read a monitor when everything is spelled out for him. He stammers, and stumbles over the words every night. Chris Wimer is as stiff as a board, such an awful delivery. The "chief" weatherman, well folks it's just too hard to call, you just can't say anything else about Dano.
ReplyDeleteAnd now, that they couldn't get worse, they are hard-selling the viewers about their length of service and their family loving our family. Oh brother I need a shovel when I see that ad! I guess you could sum them up as the best of the worse for local entertainment.
He will make a great bus driver in Ocean City where they take all the drop outs. Just need to work for less money that's all.

For some of the same reasons 335 is a moron. You really think that wahbulance stopped at a red light then had the energy to roll over several times? Or maybe you are the same guy
