RELOCATION OF BOARD OF EDUCATION CENTRAL OFFICES

I am aware of the Board of Education’s proposal to relocate their offices to a leased facility in Northwood Industrial Park. However, I do not have complete details on the associated financial implications.

The County Executive has minimal control over decisions made by the Board of Education whose members are appointed by the Governor. I can try to persuade, but can exercise no real oversight.

The County’s primary role is to provide funding to our public schools and that funding is largely mandated by State formulas.

I want to be assured that this proposed transaction will not have any negative impacts on classroom funding and/or other priority Board of Education Capital projects and I call upon the Board to provide the public with that reassurance.

  1. Sorry Bob,

Freddie the Freeloader is gonna spew lies, half-truths, and propaganda to anyone who will listen.

We really need an elected school board...elected by the local people - representing local interests.

Thanks to liberal Jim Mathias for 'Coneway-ing' the elected school board bill this time around...you'll be joining your buddy in the unemployment line after the next election cycle.

If you have any control over any portion of the WCBOE's funding, you should withhold it until there is a transparent accountability process in place...so the people can know what's going on for real!

  2. For the life of me - I do not see how the Wicomico BOE can spend more than 320,000 dollars a year on leasing buildings without effecting the education of our student population. IMHO - the action is perilous and ought not be permitted. I sincerely hope the parents will chime-in regarding this matter.

$320,000 needs to be deducted from this current budget since they found free money they supposedly didn't have.

Since they found the free money this year that was lost, guess what that $320,000 will be in next years budget that you the tax payer will have to foot.

    1. The money being used is for capital projects and is total separate from any finding by the Council. The Council cannot hold back finding as it is separate pools of money and would be against state formulas. It isn't as simple as you think.

  4. O'Malley hired these Bozo's. Now their boss is Larry Hogan.

I emailed Mr. Hogan, and explained the problems and asked him to address this situation ASAP.

Y'all better do the same real quick, because as soon as the old BMS gets demolished to move the ball field next door to it's old footprint, there will be no more choices and you'll all owe $320,000 more in taxes every year for the next twenty.

It's time to get on your horses.

  5. The board press release said they kept local government informed during this process. Who was told what when? I've seen how the board informs.

  6. If the RINO's on the Council -- Matt Holloway, John Hall, Larry Dodd -- had supported Bob's plan for the Bennett site, this would be a moot matter.

  7. Culver might not control their negative decisions but he has a lot of control over their funding. Put the brakes on for us taxpayers who elected you. Stand-up for the right way to do things and stop this free-fall spending by a BOE that has not one plan to cut costs. I,m sure, with a little imagination, they will come up with a more economically correct solution. It's time for you to say "NO MORE".

  8. Having the WBOE reassure the public is like the Captain on the Titanic believing his ship was unsinkable. Come on, the only thing these will understand is funding cut-off and then we will see where their true hearts and actions will take them!

  9. Bob, I know your hands are tied, but it would be a good time right now to inform the BOE that in next year's budget there will not be any added lease money and since Freddy already has that cash, our Wicomico County's contribution will be $320,000 less each year for the next 20 years.

    It's only fair.

  10. Our Board only answers to the former Governor. Don't mess with our castles or gift cards. We also have a lot of support from OC Mayor Mathias.

  11. 702, I hope that is a joke. Mr. Hogan is very busy repairing major problems created by the O'Malley and Mathias regime, but he's only had 3 months and a major O'malley created riot to work on.

Wait 'til he gets his stride.

  13. Ask some of those people who are going to be relocated, some will have only cubbies, no windows etc. All are NOT pleased with this decision. They all know that our taxes will be affected and this means theirs too.

  14. How can Freddie the freeloader be terminated? Cut off the head of the snake and be done with it all.

  15. This is nothing new people the sky is not falling. The B.O.E. has been and will continue to be a money pit. "It is for the children". The only people more entitled in Wicomico County is a Black B.O.E. employee. This liberal b.s. has gone on for years.

They hide more money from the county and are arrogant about it because they have been allowed to get away it.

Culver kick Freddy in the nuts. You do not need that B.O.E. vote lol. Old boy not easy being the Exec. is it. All politicians fall prey to the vote. If they don't they don't stay politicians long.

  16. The problem is Culver has no control over anything as long as Cramer Strasburg and Morris are running the show. It is time for Culver to live up to his campaign promise and clean house or he will fail.
