Greenwood, DE – A Greenwood man has died from the injuries he sustained in a crash that occurred on Blanchard Road earlier this month.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Friday May 8, 2015 as Edward B. Plummer, 58 of Greenwood, was operating a 2001 Yamaha XVS 1100 northbound on Blanchard Road attempting to negotiate a slight right curve. For unknown reasons, Plummer failed to negotiate the curve and exited the west side of the roadway continuing in a northerly direction before the motorcycle entered Shirley's Road. There, the motorcycle rotated onto its left side and slid across the roadway until it struck a drainage ditch on the north side of Shirley's Road. Upon striking the drainage ditch, Plummer was ejected from the motorcycle and landed on the north side of the ditch.
Edward Plummer, who was wearing an approved DOT helmet, was transported by Delaware State Police Aviation (Trooper 2) to Christiana Medical Center in Stanton where he was admitted with undetermined injuries until he died on Saturday May 9, 2015 at approximately 12:33 p.m.
The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.
