Ga. Army veteran arrested after smashing stranger’s car window to rescue dog
An Army veteran says he has no regrets after he was arrested in Georgia this week for smashing a stranger’s car window to give a trapped dog some fresh air.
Michael Hammons, who served in Desert Storm, said he jumped into action when he heard someone in an Athens shopping center say a dog was in distress, a local NBC affiliate reported.
Witnesses said a group of shoppers noticed the Pomeranian-mix in the hot Mustang without water and were waiting on police to arrive when Mr. Hammons grabbed his wife’s wheelchair leg and smashed the car window, the station reported.
Good for him!----I have understood you are to notify police but by the time they get there the animal could be dead! The public should be outraged & show this man some support! I'd have done the same!
I see nothing wrong here. Why was he arrested, for stealing the cop's thunder? Somebody had to rescue the dog.
ReplyDeletehe should have cut the top instead
ReplyDeleteHe did the right thing.
ReplyDeleteThe owner was rightly charged as well. Wonder if she learned her lesson though. This happens all the time.
