Elton John: Congress can end AIDS

Grammy-winning legend Elton John is urging Congress to strengthen its fight against HIV to help end AIDS within his lifetime and “change the course of history.”

“This Congress indeed has the power to end AIDS,” John told a Senate appropriations subcommittee on Wednesday. “I am here today to ask you to use that power.”

The British songwriter was the star of a panel on Wednesday that focused on the United States’s global health programs.

  4. Aids kills indiscriminately, one of the highest number of new infections are in the teen and early twenties groups of both sexes and orientations. So all of those who are complaining realize the a cure is needed and teaching RESPONSIBLE sex education should never have been taken out of the school system.

  5. This country is at the forefront of AIDS research and Sir Elton asks that it be put as a priority. Not an outrageous request.

Worldwide, the 35 million people infected are primarily NOT homosexuals. 19 million don't know they're infected. Over 3 1/2 million are children, who contracted the disease from their infected mothers. Most AIDS victims do not have access to either prevention or treatment. These are things that can be changed, along with education.

  7. We know the general cause of this disease and its primary transmission methods....most of which are via activities that good people wouldn't usually partake in....

We should let this disease run its course and naturally eliminate the folks that just aren't right....

Spend that money on cancer research and cures! Cancer is fairly indiscriminate as far as we know right now - its cure would provide a benefit to good people as well as non!

  8. So, why the big debate on allowing same sex marriage?

  9. Aids is 100% preventable.

10:55 Aids DOES NOT kill indiscriminately.
To get Aids, you need to either practice unprotected anal sex with an infected person, or share a drug needle.

People who get aids have made a choice to do these behaviors

  10. 7:09 AM Are you trolling? Cause it sounds like you are trolling, or just stupid. I can't tell because what you say is so obviously wrong unless you just stepped out of Dr. Emmett Browns time machine and you are Marty Mcfly.

  11. 7:09 is correct, do you have aids? Does anyone who is normal have it? No one I know does, all I read and hear about is homo's getting it, and druggies. God is doing a fine job of ridding us of these people.

  12. 10:04 I wish he'd come back and take you too. You and 7:09 are too dumb to offer anything to this world.
