Cheswold - The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a fatal hit and run motor vehicle crash north of Cheswold which has resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
The initial investigation has determined that the incident was reported at approximately 4:53 a.m. this morning, Thursday, April 30, 2015 by a newspaper deliver person on North DuPont Highway (US13) southbound just north of South Messina Hill Road. The adult male pedestrian, whose identity is unknown at this time, was located lying in a driveway and was pronounced dead by paramedics.
The body has been turned over the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for autopsy and positive identification.
The vehicle that struck the pedestrian fled the scene and has not been identified at this time.
US13 southbound lanes were opened at approximately 9:45 a.m.
