Shoplifter Hiding In Ceiling Stole $8.50 Worth Of Goods

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)–She was running from police, but it’s where a shoplifter chose to hide that has some arbutus customers in disbelief.

Amy Yensi has the details.

It was about $8.00 worth of groceries, but it cost police 7 hours and a lot of resources.

SWAT teams, a mandatory evacuation and a scissor lift–Baltimore County police pulling out all the stops to arrest a shoplifter who lodged herself above the highest walls of the Giant store in Arbutus.

Crews erring on the side of caution, fearing where the shoplifter was hiding could cause the ceiling to collapse.

  1. So we are at the point of the police being right at all costs? What a shame this country is run by raging facists. You want to blame the criminal for the resources needed to bring them down when real crime is being ignored. That is the fault of the officer in charge. Not the petty criminal.

  3. I told you --- steal a loaf of bread and the police will mobilize like it's WWII. They will chase a suspect through neighborhoods, get the dogs out, bring in a helicopter, you name it.
Steal 45 BILLION and you get to meet the President, avoid millions in taxes (Federal employees) and you keep your $85,000 a year job.
    TWO sets of laws.
    Keep cheering.

  4. They had no way of knowing it was "only" $8 in groceries until she was apprehended. And she was acting erratically, which is why the big response. If she had held the shoppers hostage or went apeshit abs hurt someone's kid, there would have been hell to pay.

Bet it was a steak. Not a loaf of bread.

    Just sayin'.
