MULTIPLE IMPAIRED DRIVING CRASHES ACROSS MD THIS WEEKEND

(Pikesville, MD) – Troopers investigated several crashes involving impaired drivers and arrested even more over this past weekend across the state.

This past weekend, April 24 through April 26, 2015, troopers investigated 12 collisions involving suspected impaired drivers. They also arrested 58 motorists suspected of operating a vehicle while impaired. Troopers remind everyone that impaired driving crashes are completely preventable by never driving after you have been drinking.

These collisions included:

Caroline Co. - Route 307 at Route 313, Federalsburg, MD – 3:20 p. m. - April 24 – Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash involving a car that ran off the roadway into a ditch after striking a curb. The driver was transported to the hospital and is suspected of DUI. Charges are pending.


Charles Co. – Route 228 at Streamview Drive, Waldorf, MD – 5:39 p. m. April 24 – Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash. The at-fault driver was found to be impaired and was arrested.

Charles Co. – Route 228 at Bunker Hill Road, Waldorf, MD – 7:47 p. m. April 24 – Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash. The at-fault driver was found to be impaired and was charged with DUI.

Howard Co. – I-95 at Route 175, Jessup, MD – 11:25 p. m. - April 24 – Troopers responded to a multi-vehicle collision. The at-fault driver was observed to be impaired. The impaired driver was arrested.

Charles Co. – Route 488 at Hawkins Gate Road, La Plata, MD – 4:45 a. m. – April 25 – A vehicle was traveling along MD 488 when the driver lost control and struck a cement wall. Driver was transported to an area hospital. Impairment was observed. Charges are pending.

Dorchester Co. – Route 50 at Maiden Forest Road, Vienna, MD – 6:05 a. m. – April 25 – Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash involving a car that left the roadway, struck a culvert, finally striking a tree. Driver was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Charges are pending.

Carroll Co. – MD 140 at Malcolm Drive, Westminster, MD – 8:16 p. m. – April 25 – Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash where the at-fault vehicle left the scene. The other driver was able to provide a vehicle description. The at-fault vehicle was located and the driver was arrested.

Prince George’s Co. – U. S. 50 in the area of I-495, Ardmore, MD – 9:25 p. m. – April 25 – The barrack received a call for a two vehicle crash where the at-fault vehicle left the scene. Troopers responded to a vehicle stopped on the right shoulder with the suspected impaired driver seated in the driver’s seat. The victim in the hit and run was able to identify the vehicle. The driver was arrested.

Cecil Co. – I-95 at 100.5 mile maker, North East, MD – 3:32 a. m. – April 26 - Troopers respond to a single vehicle crash. The driver demonstrated signs of impairment. Both the driver and passenger were transported to a local hospital. Charges are pending against the driver.

Prince George’s Co. – I-495 at Suitland Road, Suitland, MD - 3:40 a. m. – April 26 – Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash on the left shoulder. The driver was found to be impaired and was arrested.

Charles Co. – Route 229 at Bic Pic Lane, Waldorf, MD – 5:24 p. m. – April 26 – Troopers responded to an overturned vehicle. When contact was made with the driver, impairment was observed. Field test was given and the driver performed poorly. Driver was arrested.

Carroll Co. – 1900-block of Ridge Road, Taylorsville, MD – 1:34 a. m. – April 27 – The driver drove off the roadway and struck a parked vehicle in a driveway. The driver was arrested and charged with DUI.
