Main Street Gym Concert & Donation

Main St Gym's "Concert in the Ring" turned out to be a knock out event. It was sponsored by Pohanka of Salisbury and hosted by Hal Chernoff who kicked off the night with a monologue that had the crowd cracking up. Chernoff then started the crowd on its musical journey by playing two of his homegrown songs. 

Then “Red No Blue” took the stage with Nick Dudas on percussion, Mitchell Gittelman and Rob Becker on guitar, and vocals Rob Becker and Nick Dudas. 

Following “Red No Blue” was Chris English who is a local legend with his raspy traditional blues and masterful guitar. Chris had the crowd mesmerized with his lighting fast hands and vocals that keep all eyes and ears glued to the veteran bluesman. 

Then on stage for the first time, Blessed Gypsy. This band is packed full of talent with Mark Fitzgerald on lead guitar (played with the Charlie Daniel’s Band), Gary Harrison on rhythm guitar, Don Hall on acoustic guitar and vocals, Jeff Marshall on bass, Greg French on drums and Larry Parsons on percussion. 

People were jumping up from the tables and moving to the music. "People weren't sure what to expect and when it was so good, it took the night even higher," said Chernoff. 

The night grew to a crescendo as Bryan Russo and the Tragic Figures stepped into the ring. With their tight arrangements of funk and blues, they had the crowd believing that the band was imported from outside the borders of our Eastern Shore. With Russo on lead and vocals, Mike Noyes on harmonica, Brett Conaway on drums and John Sybert on bass, they proved why they have been so busy opening for acts like Los Lonely Boys and playing at the popular 9:30 Club in DC. 

All these performers donated their time and talent to raise money for Main St Gym and the Excellence in Nursing Fund.

“We tried something different and it worked, but as good as it was, we will strive tomake it better next time.” said Chernoff.
