Cruz Warns of 'Liberal Fascism' Targeting Christians

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Saturday said Democrats had gone to extremes in their persecution of Christians.

“Today’s Democratic Party has decided there is no room for Christians in today’s Democratic Party,” he said at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition summit in Waukee, Iowa.

“There is a liberal fascism that is going after Christian believers,” the 2016 GOP presidential candidate continued.

“It is heartbreaking,” Cruz argued. “But it is so extreme, it is waking people up.”

Cruz said same-sex marriage had produced rabid zealotry in Democratic ranks. This ideology, he argued, was excluding people of faith.

“Today’s Democratic Party has become so radicalized for legalizing gay marriage in all 50 states that there is no longer any room for religious liberty,” he said.

The Texas lawmaker said this stance was against America’s traditional values. Religious liberty, Cruz claimed, was one of the nation’s founding principles.

“We were founded by men and women fleeing religious persecution,” Cruz declared.

  1. Gay marriage does not curtail anyone else's liberties, religious or otherwise. They simply want the liberty (aka freedom) to make a lifelong, legal commitment to each other.

9:53 If 2 homosexuals want to be together, they should get we'd into Civil Union, aka Partnership. Word Marriage us solely FOR ONE MAN ONE WOMAN. I agree it doesn't curtail any liberties and freedoms. Not until they decide 2 call LGBT because someone refuse to bake their Wedding Cake. Ridiculous and Sad.

  3. First, he doesn't care about this. The only reason he saying this untruth is to rally the Christian base, whom he knows is the majority to garner votes.

Christians love to play the persecuted victim card in fact this is a false meme. When almost any politician and every politician ever for the entire history of this country including Supreme Court justices have overwhelmingly been Christian, any sort of victimization or persecution Christians have seen has been at the hands of other Christians.

Christians, you're not being persecuted in anyway shape or form. You're no longer allowed to force your religious viewpoint down other peoples throats. You are not having to conform to the same freedoms and liberties that everyone else enjoys and no longer have as much privilege as you have in the past.

Cruiz is also trying to make an us versus them ploy. I find this dishonest. I think if you ask most Democrats or liberals what their religious viewpoint was you would have an overwhelmingly Christian number. I thought lying was a sin, but I guess all politicians I like that aren't they?

You should always distrust a politician or political leader that comes wrapped up in the flag for carrying a Bible, as generally these are just displays not real virtues of said politician to garner votes.

  4. 5:45, you're completely full of crap.
    Christians aren't persecuted??
They're being killed by the thousands for their beliefs, and now being socially and legally destroyed in the US by fascist liberals who claim to be defending their own 'rights', but who are really out to eliminate all exercise of Christianity in public life.
Anyone can express a Christian 'viewpoint' as you describe, but those who actually live it are marked for destruction.
You are the one who is dishonest.

So what was this $135,000 fine for not baking a cake for lesbians all about?

The hallmark of the liberal left is intellectual dishonesty. Intellectual fraud.
As demonstrated by 5:45 and 9:53.

We are talking about the United States of America aren't we. Because I don't see the slaughter of Christians in the USA as you say. That's what we're talking about in this forum. However an argument could be made that Christians and Muslims are being slaughtered by each other in Third World countries however that's not what we're talking about here so I have no idea what you're trying to get at.

Christians are not being persecuted one iota in this country. Christians are the overwhelming majority and legislators and court officials are also overwhelmingly Christian. If you want to play the no true Scotsman card then your argument has no validity. I guess that's why there are more varieties of Christianity then there are verses in the Bible because you guys just can't agree on anything. But to lie about some sort of liberal fascist persecution of Christians is just dishonest.

Unfortunately facts can't really be argued with, And those of the fact. Christians of the overwhelming majority in this country that's a fact, legislators and court officials for all of this country's history and today are overwhelmingly Christian in fact almost all of them are, that's a fact. You cannot claim victimization or persecution when these are facts. No one's liberty or freedom is being taken away in any form. Justice and reason are winning because Christians are no longer allowed to enforce their privilege, and the Christian legislature and courts are doing the right thing by the constitution of this country and no longer allowing Christians to force their views on the public. This is also a fact.

So I have no idea what you're talking about it where you coming from I just like a little bit more honesty. Why don't you just admit you don't really care about freedom or liberty and that you would much rather prefer a theocracy of your own religiosity at least that would be honest.

No one's religious liberties are being infringed upon at that bakery. The people on the bakery are allowed to follow their religion as they see fit. If their religion says don't be gay and they can not to be gay.

However they are not allowed to use their religion to discriminate upon other people that is not freedom to follow your religion as you see fit. If the government said hey you religious people who don't like being gay you have to be gay then there would be a problem. But that's not what's happening here.

People are using religion as an excuse to persecute other people and to discriminate against them, this is not new the argument was used against blacks during the civil rights movement. Christianity the Bible and religion was pointed to to support people's right to discriminate against people of other colors.

The fine is because these people were discriminatory not because they were exercising their religious freedom.

  8. Believing you are surrounded by sinners and being persecuted is a big part of being a Christian so if you are a Christian in America embrace any persecution you can find because there is not much of it here.
