Colorado mom chastised by school for packing Oreo cookies in daughter's lunch

AURORA, Colo. (AP) - A suburban Denver 4-year-old came home from school disappointed, with untouched Oreos and a note from her teacher.

Preschooler Natalee Pearson told her mom Friday that she wasn't allowed to eat the cookies in her lunchbox.

The note told parents to pack a nutritious lunch that includes a fruit, vegetable and healthy snack.

  2. I would be furious for anyone from the school to be telling me or my child what they can and can not have to eat! Since when does enrolling in publc school remove my right as a parent on what to feed my children! Next they will be calling CPS for putting a cupcake in your childs lunch!

  4. Oreos are a food group, and the "educator" needs to become informed. I doubt that they were the main course of the meal, but just a treat for dessert.

    More information:

INGREDIENTS: , SUGAR, UNBLEACHED UNRICHED FLOUR (, WHEAT FLOUR, NIACIN, REDUCED IRON, THIAMINE MONONITRATE [VITAMIN B1], RIBOFLAVIN [VITAMIN B2], FOLIC ACID) , HIGH OLEIC CONOLA OIL, AND/OR , PALM OIL, AND/OR , CANOLA OIL, AND/OR , SOYBEAN OIL, COCOA (PROCESSED WITH ALKALI), HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, CORNSTARCH, LEAVENING (, BAKING SODA, AND/OR , CALCIUM PHOSPHATE) , SALT, SOY LECITHIN, VANILLIN, - AN ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR , CHOCOLATE

  6. Yes, but if you read the fine print, the child could choose to smoke a doobie wrapped in toilet paper to help him regain his academic focus. The other children were somehow distracted.

  7. Private or public. Next thing out of that pompous bitch's mouth would have been "I need a ride to the emergency room"!!

Bad enough we've got halfwits in government telling what we can and can't do, now we have some dried up old spinster dictating what parents put in their children's lunch boxes.
    She should be fired.

  8. Time for parents to take charge of their children's education, not the government. They are being controlled by the teachers who pay their union reps, who fork over $$ to the liberals who promote such nonsense. Speak up to the appropriate people if you oppose this.
