Wicomico County Board Of Education Replacing Cafeteria Staff

After Salisbury News exposed the expired food information, (along with photos/evidence) we've learned that at least two employees have been replaced at one school.

When we asked if they are still serving expired food they replied, "I don't know because now I pack my lunch". Smart Kid!

  1. Trickle down blame.Always fire a few people at the bottom of the totem pole to appease the big bad government.Force schools to "get by" with as little as possible and then put the blame on those who are just doing their job as they were told to do it.When instructions are given orally and nothing is put in writing the important people will swear they didn't know. They not only knew, they gave the orders.

  2. 10:59 have you been paying attention? Schools barely getting by? If the BOE didn't waste so much money the schools wouldn't be "barely getting by". Tell it to Dr. Freddy and his band of thieves. They get more than half the county budget and they're barely getting by? Let's weigh this out. What do we need more, quality food or new ball fields? Books for every student or new buildings? Where are your priorities?

    2. 12 :03 pm, the commenter was talking to the other commenter that posted at 10:59, not you. But I agree with you, glad it's been exposed.

  3. Where are the supervisors? All food placed out should be inspected before it is served.

  4. 10:59 You can't be serious? "Get by"? More like poor leadership and horrible budget management. The BOE's budget is ridiculously over inflated, and their spending is a concern. Do you know what $900 can do for children in the county?Instead, they use it for their lunches, coffee and dinners/drinks.

I guarantee you, if the schools were in the private sector, they would operate on 60% of the current budget.

  5. nothing will happen to them, they will just get moved to another school where all will be forgotten.

  6. Management is negligent for not seeing policies upheld.

Nabisco used cryptic codes on their products for years. Some companies still do.

I was in 2 different Giants on the Western Shore that pulled over 50K$ dollars of out of dates on the same day.

Some representatives are remiss in their duty to their customers.

If you cannot discern the code on any perishable don't buy it

  7. Were these the two who didn't know how to read a date? Or were they the two who were instructed by someone higher on the food chain to ignore the dates?

  8. 11:33 I agree with your statement and 12:13 I agree with your statement noas well.

This just proves what the rest of us have been saying all along, the BOE is wasting money and they don't spend money wisely and not everything the BOE does is "for the children".

  9. Wicomico County Food Service is completely self-supporting. There money comes from themselves/sales alone. None comes from Frederickson and the school board. Should the cafeteria workers be more careful? Yes. But to rejoice because two people lost their jobs is not the way to go.

    1. Who sold you the line of crap that Wicomico County Food Service is completely self-supporting? Guess Somerset County, with their all meals are free plan,is self supporting also?

  10. You're going to sit there and say none of the money in the budget is for any of the school breakfast and lunches? How many federal dollars goes into the free and reduced breakfast and lunch programs? I seriously doubt the Food Service raises every bit of the funding to supply all the schools in the county.

Hey Joe, do you have a copy of the BOE budget? I'd like to know how much is budgeted for food service if you have that information.

  11. Whoa!!! Back up the truck!!! Sometimes the product comes right off the truck from the company with the expired dates!! Not for anything - But, Why are the kids involved in this?! It should be between the Manager of Cafeteria and the Food Service Manager - Who oversees all the cafeteria's in the county!! And the kids who are complaining - We are paying for their lunch - GUARANTEED!!!!
You have two choices - Buy and eat your lunch at school or PACK one from home!! Oh wait, these are the ones - Who can't do that!!! Gee, I wonder why!!!!
