Incident: Illegal Possession of Ammunition

Date of Incident:  20 March 2015

Location:  Wicomico County

Suspect: Renaldo D. Thomas, 36, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 20 March 2015 a deputy arrested Renaldo Thomas on two outstanding Circuit Court Bench Warrants that were issued in an illegal possession of a regulated firearm case and a CDS Possession with the Intent to Distribute Case. Upon arrest, the deputy discovered live .38 ammunition in Thomas’ pocket.

Thomas is prohibited due to a previous criminal conviction from possession of both a regulated firearm and ammunition.

Following an appearance in front of the District Court Commissioner,Thomas was detained on a bond of $25,000.00 bond. Thomas was detained without bond on the Circuit Court warrants.

Incident: Illegal Possession of a Firearm

Date of Incident:  22 March 2015

Location:  East Isabella Street, Salisbury, MD

Suspect: Rogelio Cervantes, 21, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 23 March 2015 a deputy stopped a vehicle operated by Rogelio Cervantes for a traffic violation on East Isabella Street in Salisbury. During the stop the deputy initiated a probable cause search of the vehicle and located a loaded semi-automatic handgun under the driver’s seat.

The deputy discovered that Cervantes was prohibited from possessing a regulated firearm due to a previous CDS related conviction. The deputy also discovered that the firearm located under the seat had been reported stolen during a burglary in Delaware back in 2013.

The deputy transported Cervantes to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner.  After an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Cervantes in the Detention Center in lieu of $45,000.00 bond.

Charges:  Illegal Possession of a Regulated Firearm, Handgun in Vehicle, Illegal Possession of Ammunition and Possession of a Stolen Regulated Firearm

  2. Of course the officer failed to determine whether Cervantes was in the country illegally, because regardless of what he has been doing while he is here, he can't be detained for that.

    Just here looking for a better life, right??!
