Understanding Maryland's Heroin Epidemic

In 2013, there were 464 heroin-related deaths - greater than the number of homicides;

Between 2010 and 2013, cases of heroin-related overdose deaths increased by 95 percent;

Preliminary data for 2014 shows that heroin- related overdose deaths are on pace to surpass those in 2013 by approximately 20 percent.

Today, the Hogan-Rutherford administration took its first steps to combating the heroin crisis by announcing executive action to establish the Heroin and Opioid Emergency Task Force and the Inter-Agency Coordinating Council, two groups that will enable the state to address this epidemic in a holistic, comprehensive way.

  1. After considerable research , I have found that the majority of the heroin used in the U.S. comes from the far east countries that we have been fighting.
    Now that Obama has embraced his brothers in the muslim nations , it seems that this heroin trade has tripled . WTF is going on?

  2. Start up a special drug prison.make mandatory to any and all those caught to be tested at time of arrest, addicts testing positive would be given three months minimum for first offense.drug dealers would not be allowed to participate. After the min. Three mos in drug prison, the perps would then be placed in a drug court program for 15 mos! Our local drug court would then place these perps under their strict rules.Judge Beckstead will kick their butts
