Seaford, DE – Troopers are currently investigating a crash that occurred just south of Seaford involving a Seaford School District School bus.
The incident happened around 9:07 a.m. Monday March 2, 2015, as a 29-year-old female from Seaford, was operating a 2014 International school bus northbound on Sussex Highway (US13) just south of Cannon Road. The bus had just stopped at a traffic light and was beginning to proceed forward with the traffic flow when a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox, operated by a 17-year-old female from Seaford, struck the rear of the bus. Both vehicles were able to come to a controlled stop in the travel lane of US13.
The 29-year-old bus driver was uninjured in the incident.
As of 11:30 a.m., seven students that were passengers on the bus carrying 35, were later transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital by EMS or parents with non-life-threatening injuries after being evaluated by medical personnel at Seaford High School. The ages of the students ranged from 12-17 years old.
The 17-year-old female was properly restrained and was uninjured in the collision. She was cited for Careless Driving and Failure to Have Insurance in Possession.
