California’s sales ban on new semiautomatic handguns that don’t stamp identifying information on the cartridge when a bullet is fired was upheld by a federal judge.
The law doesn’t violate the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment because gun owners don’t have a right to specific types of firearms, U.S. District Judge Kimberly Mueller in Sacramento said in her ruling.
“Plaintiffs insist they have the right to determine the precise way in which they would exercise their Second Amendment rights,” Mueller said. The insistence upon particular handguns falls “outside the scope of the right to bear arms,” she said.
California in 2013 became the first state to bar retailers from selling new models of semiautomatic handguns not equipped to imprint the weapon’s make, model and serial number on the cartridge when a bullet is fired. The statute was supported by law enforcement because it can help deter or solve crime.

What part of "shall not be infringed" do these dumba$$es not understand?
ReplyDeleteIt will easy enough to replace that part with one that doesn't stamp the cartridge.
ReplyDeleteThe right to bear arms. It doesn't say you can bear this arm, or that arm, or not this arm.
ReplyDeleteTo me, the right to bear arms means ALL arms. And yes, I do mean machine guns, bazookas and any other weapon our government has that can be used against us.
Matter of fact, we already can. You just have to pay for the permits, tax stamps, etc.
Meanwhile, unless you are in a hurry, pick up your brass. Or put something over the eject port to collect it as it comes out.
When the government says you don't need a gun, YOU NEED A GUN!
Ok don't start throwin grenades at me yet. My facts aren't entirely accurate. However this micro-stamping will be as effective as Maryland Law requiring an empty shell from any handgun purchase. Since its inception some years ago I've been told the MSP cannot keep up with the backlog of casings they have, the computers logging them can't handle number of casings they have to log, and they are running out of space to keep them on file, now this much I do know to be a fact, no crime has been solved by use of the handgun casings surrender with purchase. In fact there is a bill being proposed to do away with this stupid idea in Maryland.I am really getting tired of these idiotic anti-gun nitwit Politian's dreaming up these baseless laws.
