AP Exclusive: Ringling Bros. eliminating elephant acts

POLK CITY, Fla. (AP) — The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is ending its iconic elephant acts.

The circus’ parent company, Feld Entertainment, told The Associated Press exclusively that the acts will be phased out by 2018. Growing public concern about how the animals are treated led to the decision.

    9:21 well said. These are highly intelligent and beautiful animals. I hope they are placed in a protective animal preserve so they can live out their noble lives in peace.

    9:21 Rampant? Please. A case here and there isn't rampant. Animal activists KILL more animals than the people they pound their bird chests about. PETA, agricultural terrorists, HSUS...I can keep going. Just now, there is an investigation in S Carolina from the ag terror pansies. GTFOH.

    I agree. It is way overdue. Moreover, those that slaughter elephants for profit should pay the ultimate price. Same goes for those that purchase the products.

    11:50 Not misinformed, I live it every single day. But, keep thinking advocacy groups actually give a F about animals. They fill the black bags quicker while your head is in the sand worrying about an elephant.

    Let's just send all of the elephants back to Africa, where some rich white guy has a slug waiting for them. Brilliant idea.
