Mayor Jim Ireton Continues To Prove He Just Doesn't Care
A couple years ago I stood in front of this business and announced I was going to run for Mayor.
I purposely chose this location to prove Salisbury Maryland and Mayor Jim Ireton were not business friendly.
Two years later, nothing at all has changed. So do tell me how your choice of LIBERAL leadership is working for all of you? This is a business that could INCREASE the amount of employees they can hire. Their business is booming but instead, their interests are now in Delaware, not Salisbury.
All too often we are seeing the same thing, businesses either at a stand still or simply closing their doors. Ireton and Day get all excited when the small chain businesses keep opening in Salisbury only to provide mainly minimum wage jobs. Even their new proposals for Downtown are offering the same kind of income.
The only positive thing happening here is our new County Executive Bob Culver and the support he is receiving from our new Governor Larry Hogan.
We need businesses and business men like Danny Burt and others. Because your leaders have NO business experience and only tend to support Liberal businesses, Salisbury continues to fall apart. You need a new CONSERVATIVE Mayor with a business background. You need to encourage someone to run for Mayor and turn Salisbury around before it's too late.
I don't think it helped matters when Danny said he would move his business to Delaware if Jim was elected again.
ReplyDeleteJim is a whiney girl, all those that opposed him will pay, the only way I see them getting help would be from a different major, they are going to have to rid this 4 years out working in DE as most of us are now.
Damn shame this could be more jobs for Salisbury but the IDIOT mayor is only interested in LOW INCOME HOUSING AND FOLK.
ReplyDeleteIs there a city code for a half completed building? That place has had the building frame up for several years and it hasn't been completed yet.
ReplyDeleteAs an outsider looking in, it is apparent, that the only time the Salisbury city officials get all jazzed up, is when another establishment opens, that sells alcohol. While I have nothing against drinking and do imbibe from time to time, it's very strange how excited they get over something so insignificant when it comes to revitalization efforts.
ReplyDeleteThe trolley unveiling was a riot. Seeing them so aroused over something that amounts to a free ride for drunks was quite amusing.

ReplyDeleteDanny has every right to get frustrated after waiting TWO YEARS and still hadn't received permits. Now it's another two years later and still nothing.
Jake Day was well aware of the situation at this business and again, nothing has been done.
How quickly you seem to forget, (with all due respect) Labinal and the loss of an additional 650 jobs there.
I have personally contacted Governor Larry Hogan on this matter. Screw Jim Ireton and Jake Day. If I have to step in and get the Governor and County Executive to step in and even perhaps over ride the Mayor, SO BE IT.
There is NO WAY we are going to lose another business to Delaware IF it can be helped. Some have set roots here and when a guy like Danny is looking to hire SIXTY new employees and gets treated like crap from the Mayor, it's time for more level headed minds to step in and salvage Jim Ireton's newest DETROIT.
Let's also not forget that Perdue is moving a chunk of Office folks to Seaford soon or recently...
ReplyDeleteI won't be surprised to hear them pulling corporate stakes for NC...
@9:10 am, it hasn't been up for "several" years. not even for two years, actually. and they are working on it every single day. i work next door.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the comments about that "crowd" that thinks opening bars in downtown is going to save it. Low wage jobs and drinking is going to save the city. What planet are they from? I can't believe the sheep who follow them too...some from old Salisbury families and family businesses who should know better. SMH
ReplyDeleteYou are a Delaware resident so I don't get why Salisbury is a concern of yours. Being a Delaware resident I am glad to hear of businesses coming to my state. .
ReplyDelete"There is NO WAY we are going to lose another business to Delaware" We? What is this "WE" BS. Get out of Delaware and move to Maryland if you are so dissatisfied with Delaware and its people. At least Danny has the good sense to know where his business is not wanted. Certainly is no big deal to move a few miles North when Salisbury won't or can't issue permits. Why has Danny wasted two years before deciding to move to Delaware?
9:39, I don't know where you get your information but you are absolutely WRONG. I am NOT a Delaware resident Mr. Ireton.
ReplyDeleteI'd be happy to meet you at any time to show you my MARYLAND drivers license.
I file my taxes in MARYLAND as a Maryland resident.
So why don't you run for mayor again??
ReplyDelete10:23, That's like asking me why won't I remarry my Ex Wife again, NO THANKS!
ReplyDeleteMr. Albero had a chance to turn things around in Salisbury but sometimes even stupid goes beyond fixing, Mr. Ireton has ruined what was and could have been again a beautiful little city, it's all ghetto and low income housing! Salisbury was my home town but i moved east and don't even go there to shop I will go to Delaware first!
ReplyDeleteIf they hire 60 mew people, 50 of them will be from south of the border and I don't mean s. carolina
ReplyDeleteIs it the environmental entities holding up the project like stormwater management, wetlands conservation, forest preservation, soil conservation or historical society, health dept, city p&z,fire marshall,SHA?
ReplyDelete12:37, Do you know why? Because far too many people from SALISBURY would rather collect Food Stamps, Welfare and live in Section 8 Housing before they'd ever go to work, let along put in a good days work. It's the way of the future for DA "'BURY. Right Jimmy?

I don't know which building you're talking about, but it'd not the one pictured here!
Salsphilly.
ReplyDeleteThugsbury..
Salisbury, the New Detroit.....Hit the nail on the head Mr Albero
ReplyDeleteHopefully the new Republican Central Committee in Wicomico County and the Wicomico County Republican Club will do this.

But Jake Day has a token job at Perdue. Are you telling me that he couldn't do anything to stop this move?
